My New Favourite Multitool
on: March 04, 2008, 11:39:38 PM
I've waited a little while to get this tool and kept it hush hush just incase I didn't receive it or something went pear shaped, but it did arrive eventually and I had been meaning to post some pics of it sooner, but I'd lost the pics temporarily on my PC that I'd actually took of it but since found them so here they are.

The Charles Elsener Limited Edition Swisstool. Being a big Swisstool fan I was a very happy when I got my hands on it. Its not 100% new (but I knew this anyway) however the tools all look factory sharp/new, it just looks like its been in someones pocket or draw a couple of times so I'm not complaining.

I know Dunc and I think JSews has one, so its obviously not one of a kind but its rare enough for me.

Anyway here's some pics of it... :)

That's a beauty!  One of these days I have to get me one of them...

It'll go nicely with my Tim Leatherman and Peter Hug signed tools! :D

Maybe I should do a search on this model but who is charles elsener?  How many of these signature models were made?  It sure looks like in cherry condition.  The pics are great!

Well done  :D Your now a member of a very exclusive club  ;)
That signature is not of the current Charles Elsener but in fact his Father , and it wasnt on the tool when it left Switzerland  ;) It was put on by the U.S importers .I've been doing my homework  ;) What I dont know is how many were made and from what dates .

Enjoy!

No, mostly because there were no SwissTools in '89!

It is likely a serial marking to do with the limited number of tools offered.  Like Dunc said, he's been looking into this and I'm sure he'll provide us with as much info as he can when he gets it.

Since that signature was put on only by US importers, that might make this model even more limited in numbers than if it was sold worldwide.

Thanks guys :)

It certainly is a keeper, I have a Swisstool X which does all my hard work for me :D

Does anyone know how many of these were made. It's got to be either 1000 or 9999 as there are 4 digits in the number. My guess would be that there was 1000. Maybe Dunc will know soon

I have no idea, but last I heard, Dunc's source in Ibach was working night and day to find out when and how many, as well as anything else they could find on this one.

Kind of ironic that these were apparently produced for the U.S. market, yet two of the three we know about now reside in the U.K.  ;)
