Found this guy while looking through a old box today. Nothing special, but i'm keeping it. Anyone have any idea of the age?

Looks like the olde style can opener for liquid products. There was an oil can version too that had a spout attached to the impaler spade part. Have not see one of them things in ages.

Was thinking along the lines of this, but there was a kitchen version for canned liquid products that was not so menacing - they would impale a pouring hole on one end, and you'd poke a vent hole on the other side.

Might also be an older style of can opener by an image search. Scroll down to mid-point.

For the hard core, there's also one found on eBay.

I have not seen an Oil Can spout in years.  Happy memories of spilling oil all over the place.

My parents had an identical item, except for the 49c stamp...........so potentially 1940's, 1950's. However, yours looks much newer than that.

I can remember buying similar can openers new in the 70's (and possibly in the 80's) in Australia - IIRC they made a fairly jagged cut.

They were popular, at least untill the 80's, as I have a similar one somewhere. I have not looked but I am sure they may be stil available in smaller, village, shops.

As for the 49c, it reminds me of the (I think) soviet union practice of stamping the price on smaller items. I think someone posted about that a while back.

No   :ahhh

I assume since it is marked in cents that would not be possible.  But that practise, from what I remember, was. Maybe I am wrong about the practise.

Looks pretty close. Was this at a department store or hardware store?

It was a hardware store, with a large homeware section.
Note the black coated, Ninja style, tactical, openner.

I assume some people must like them if they are still being sold.
