Swisstool Spirit question
on: December 06, 2012, 07:40:16 PM
I would like to know if there is anyone here that would be willing to attach a pocket clip to my swisstool spirit. I would pay shipping both ways and send the leatherman clip with the tool. I'd also like to know what someone might charge for such a service.

Thanks for your answers in advance.

You may want to have a look at the Eclipse and ClipDraw, both of which are tested and perform quite well. The only case of a built-in clip I know of is Bob's mod (see here), which -- although much cleaner in looks -- is a quite tedious experiment.

Yah the clip draw is a nice option and non destructive.

I STILL don't know how bob managed to get that tiny hole threaded in that pivot :)

Here's my clip draw

Hey Syph, sorry if I've asked this before. Did you find pivots that fit the Spirit as-is or did you have to tamper with the implements/scales (e.g., widen the holes etc.)?

They are 4mm rivets in the swisstools, so I drilled them out to fit a 3/16 pivot.  No problems really as there is plenty of metal to retain strength, but it does mean each tool is drilled and polished.  Im trying to make a Ti pocket clip for it, with a hole somewhere near the top to also double as a lanyard point.  So far I cut a strip of Ti, and then thats as far as I got.  Maybe over the holidays I'll get to finish.  :D

Whats the purpose of the long piece of metal that the clip is attached to?.

It's to stabilize it, the clip is very stiff.
