The Wenger SI has the date stamped on the blade. Not sure about the others.

If you post a picture then, by looking at the blade, tools etc. you may be able to get a date from some people here.

Al : "Women!"

I replaced the scales, the old ones " on right " have a different logo. I believe it is a Viking, just wish I could date it like Victorinox

I have learned a lot from you guys an this forum so just wanted to say thank you.

The best info on dating Wenger Knives is "The Swiss Army Knife Owner's Manual" by Michael Young. On page 43 there's a picture of the evolution of Wenger knives. Information in the text allows you to date many of the changes. I wrote that info on the photo for quick access. Also did the same for Victorinox. The book is definitely worth having.  :tu:

In addition other information comes from several dozen older Victorinox and Wenger catalogs. My major source is five large loose-leaf notebooks filled with info from catalogs, online, and any other source I can come up with. They're organized by brand, length, and blade number. Probably should have included 'layers' between length and blade number, as later versions of a model with additional blades are located in substantially different parts of the data. Too much work to redo it however. That project has been in work for over a decade.

Hi JMJ,

I've occasionally joked about doing a book, but it'll probably continue to be a work-in-progress. Too many holes in both my collection and my data. Also too much work and I'm getting too old, tired and decrepit. Either that or just plain lazy.
