Victorinox Accessories Pouch
on: December 07, 2012, 08:02:40 PM
After reading this forum I was no longer happy just carrying my Swisschamp and/or Cadet as was my habit for 25 years +. Now I carry 2-4 knifes everyday because I feel the need to play with them at any time but even this wasn't enough. I tried many combinations for carrying a Sharpener, 1/4" bit set and some other accessories. I used a tin pipe tobacco box, cordura knife seaths etc, nylon pouch etc, until I finally bought this OD Victorinox seath (for the new Soldier or Swisstool I believe). Now I'm happy with that. First of all it is a Victorinox and it is pretty and neat. One might throw it in a bag, a pocket or hang it from a carabiner or belt. The material is slimmer than the leather they use and it is lightweight. It has clear boundaries and it fits a pocket in my Victorinox bag exactly.
Inside one can find:
A Victorinox honning stone
A Victorinox ceramic dual sharpener (in two parts, upper and lower)
A Victorinox SAK lubricant oil
A 12 pieces 1/4" bit set with modified magnetic adapter to fit the Victorinox Philips drivers.
On the back I keep some Band Aids for obvious reasons!
On my XLT you can see my latest (and final maybe) lanyard solution. An elastic armband from a Nokia cellphone, with an additional carabiner and a Nite Ize Sbiner to attach it on the keyring. It is very slim and I can take it on and off very easily, in order to attach it on my Opinel or Harvester when needed.
I like it a lot. Now I have a portable ordnance for my SAKs to go.

What kind of modifications did you do to get a bit driver to work?

I've put two pieces of foam material into the 5*5mm adapter (Philips driver is 5*3mm). I then stick the Philips driver inside, between the two pieces of foam (in red, sorry about night iPhone pics).
Cheap, simple, effective. Tried dozens of times in all kind of screws already.

I just happpened to see the CRKT Tool that makes use of the same idea!

Maybe the adaptor is compatible with the Vic directly?
This tool gave me the idea to store the adaptor and bits externaly on the back side of the pouch.
BTW, what is this pouch used for? It looks military in OD and cheap material. Is it made for  the 111 Soldier or the military Swisstool Spirit?

Here you can see the way items are carried. One can assemble and disassemble the dual sharpener easily. The honning stone is kept inside a little nylon bag (with bandaids) to avoid surroundings damage. I might put also some thread and needle inside. On the back I stick the bits magazine but it also fits the main compartment, so I might put the Victorinox ruler/ mag/ compass/ thermometer there, or a fire steel, just in case. I wish the pouch had two side pockets or something, like those on the old SOS set seath.

Thank you. It feels very nice indeed.
Although nobody answered yet for what model this OD sheath was intended at first place. I would like to now. It looks military, that's all I know.
I have now thread and needles inside. Somewhere I had some some sacking needles, one of those belongs inside.

Pretty sure the sheath is made for the new Soldier knife that replaced the old alox version. :)

This OD sheath was first released with the black SwissTool Spirit (not sold separately at the beginning) and also with the Victorinox Kit Militaria 2010.

So it fits Switools and 111mm models. It looks able to hold 9mm magazines too and it is opened at the bottom to allow water flow. It is nice. I wonder if it will hold itself with time as is the case with the immortal leather seaths from Victorinox. Thank you too Marius.
