This pair of frames is not even a year old, and I already had to break out the eyeglass screwdriver on them.

I used to be solidly in the Phillips camp, but out of the 8 or so SAKs in my EDC, only the Tinker and 84mm Craftsman are Phillips. Main reason--the eyeglass screwdriver.]

Oh well….Almost I tried to get an address to send it back to Victorinox. They said they contacted Ukrainian reps and could not reach them. I asked for an address in the US since I bought it from Amazon or in Switzerland. Three times. They ignored it and kept saying they can’t reach Ukrainian reps. So I sold that faulty one for an honest price to a lad who didn’t care about the wire cutters and bought a proper one off DLT. Now I can finally relax and enjoy, but that “lifetime warranty” claim is sadly just smurf

I have to say that LM responded within hours when I needed their help with Ukrainian service center providers

At some point of this weeks-long email conversation I got so pissed that I took my LM Wave and bought and installed a new S30V blade instead of a pretty worn 154CM one I installed years ago. Because I can and because I love things I can fix myself

But anyway. This Spirit X from DLT is perfect and doesn’t have any factory scuffs or any other weird stuff my first one from Amazon had

I should have posted this yesterday but the Italian contingent were here until mid evening  :ahhh

Here's the DT (recently arrived courtesy of Fx  :hatsoff:)

It helped prepare a smoked Salmon* bread/salad type thing for Mrs Surge  :twak:
DT 190622a.jpg
* DT 190622a.jpg (Filesize: 201.92 KB)

Used the scissors where it said 'peel here' because there's no fun in 'peeling'  :dunno:

It then sliced some lemon & homemade pickles

* It was the cold smoked type, which I can't abide (I prefer hot smoke)

In awl seriousness, I can't recall any Italian dishes containing potatoes. Likely Italy's climate isn't suited to growing them.

I am getting some use out of it thanks  :tu: However, you are correct, plier usage is wanting  ::)

The Italians love potatoes but they don't really have the variety that we do here  :(

Essentially, they sell one type of small waxy potato and it gets used for everything (I have never seen a good old Jacket Potato being served ANYWHERE!!!)

However, the family love the traditional British style of oven roasted ones, they really only do the pot-roasted style. They awlso love a good old roast dinner with awl the trimmings (Yorkshire pud' etc)  :tu:

Haven't the Italian types heard of chips?

I used a Laguiole butter knife (from a set we have)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Laguiole-Butter-Knife-Tray-Ivory/dp/B00AHF0DDC?th=1

I'm assuming that you don't mean chips in the US sense (i.e. crisps) and are referring to proper chips and not fries (I had this discussion with Fx recently and it's still on-going )

All those that have visited us have had proper chips but, with the exception on Mrs Surge, they awl use mayo and not vinegar  :ahhh

This as we know, is sacrilege and will get you thrown from said chippy onto the streets where you will be mocked and then dragged to the stockades & pelted with pickled eggs  :megaslap:

I like mayo on fries (blame my German ancestry), but vinegar is a must when eating fish-n-chips.

And yes, I'd forgotten about gnocchi. But the one variety of potato makes perfect sense.

Wasn't me but I have been doing some renovation at home and yesterday the plumber came by and during the work he asked me if I had a small screwdriver laying close by and I handed him this. Not only was he surprised that I had it on me but he also really liked the yellow scales and I think there is another sak user in this world very soon

Yep, my wife was not really into Prosecco last night, so it was just me for the most part and we have some left for tonight

One thing I have to note is how easy and comfortable it is to use a blade on a Spirit X - I tried to do this same thing with other knives and this one is just surprisingly good

It’s been a while since I used my favorite SAK - a Work Champ.

Today a water tap has gone loose again in this place we rent during the war and Work Champ pliers grabbed and tightened a hex wrench more than enough to have the tap fixed.

I believe it’s a friendly reminder to never underestimate those seemingly tiny SAK pliers - they can go where my fingers can’t and shouldn’t and they can do what my bare hands can’t and most of the time should not do either

Dream. Wish. Leave nothing undone. Repeat.
