Well not today - But over the weekend - I was stripping and restoring an old wardrobe.

It's an Edwardian pine wardrobe with an inset mirror and some nice inlaid patterns
At some stage it had been given a horrible paint job and this needed stripping off.

The screwdriver on my Tinker turned out to be a brilliant scraper for the fine detailed panel - It could get in all those tiny little holes and the lovely SAK smooth corners meant the wood was not damaged, unlike the sharp corners on my regular paint scraper.

However it was not just the screwdriver that was used.
  • The main blade did a bit of cutting, trimming, scraping and digging
  • The Phillips removed the hinges on the door for me
  • The can opener opened the can of stripper when it was nearly empty - The can design meant that 5% of the liquid was left inside due to silly opening method
  • The bottle opener opened my reward beer towards the end of the afternoon
  • The Wharncliffe electrician blade came out the next day and the flat blade also worked very well as a fine cutting scraper - eg to remove dribbles of paint.

That's the beauty of the SAK - So many tools in one.
Even though this was my official beater SAK - It still hurt me a bit to abuse it so (as you can see)
But it cleaned up pretty well - see last photo
BTW - Love that term 'beater SAK' - Learnt it on this forum here:
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,50642.0.html

A few pictures attached for your amusement.....
In the first one you can see the original painted wood; the varnish layer after the paint had been removed; then the near final wood when the varnish had been stripped and sanded.

I used the philipshead on my Explorer to unscrew a screw at work ... and the small blade to open a package.

That should it have been for today...

Super Cadet was on electronics duty today, repairing a guitar effects pedal.  Used the can opener driver to open/close the case, scissors to clip the faulty wire, and blade to strip it for resoldering.

I used my brand spanking new Wenger Evolution S17 to slice a nice 1/2" long cut in my thumb. LOL. Proved one thing - these knives are really sharp - it didn't hurt a bit. Still, I should probably learn to keep my fingers away from the pointy end.

Today at the store we needed a saw to cut a cedar board to do some stain samples.  One of my coworkers went into the garage to look for one.  By the time he came out empty handed, my Evogrip S18 had already done the job.  :D

Combo opener on my Hunter to open the 'child-proof' cabinet doors (they're magnet closure and I removed the knobs so it needs a tool to open).

Blade on my Huntsman processed fruit to accompany my lunch. More blade than I need? Definitely. Did I care? Nope.

Err... I had a small piece of dirt on a vinyl record that wouldn't move; was able to budge it, just, without damaging the vinyl, using the not-sharp tip on the 111mm one handed trekker blade. Risky stuff.

Used my 81 Vic soldier to cut open the bag and chopped up a roast chicken at the 'funpark'...... Anyone else wonder how clean their EDC SAK is AFTER cutting up food?

-John :tu:

Alox is easy. Just wash with dishsoap and dry it with a air compressor. If no air compressor dry it as good as you can and air dry. If air dry isn't good enough put it in the over for a little while to get the water out of the pivot areas.
A hair dryer works well if one does not have an air compressor.

Door knob on one of my doors was coming loose, so the can opener driver on my Super Cadet tightened it right up.

My little half blind kitty, Stumpy, had a big grassburr right oh the end of her nose. I used the pliers on my Swiss Champ to pluck out the sticker tines.

Used my Farmer to whittle a face on a big acorn the kids and I found at the park. They wanted to leave it on a picnic table for someone to find.
