Another Rev Knife
on: September 26, 2021, 05:48:23 PM
Inspired by GearedFowards recent mod, I decided to convert my Rev from a drawer resident into something I will use. I am not a big fan of the Rev's file/ruler/straight driver and 2D Phillips driver, I replaced them with an awl and a pair of scissors from a Wave.

The package opener has been paired with a Wave saw in the narrow Rev handle. I am hoping this works well for me at work:

Will the Rev accept the bit driver since you put the awl from the Wave in there?  Wondering if a locking Rev armbar could be made.

The awl came from a Chinese MT. The scissors came from a Wave.
I think the bit driver would work with a little work. It would not lock, but should have enough detent to work okay.

Excellent job! I really like you made use of the slim side too, looking forward to your feedback on them once you're done in the SAKalike  :tu:

I changed to toolset. Putting the saw in the thin handle almost but ultimately did not work for me. So, I moved the saw and a file from a Multiforce into the Rev knife:

To make this work out, I had to do a few things.

First, since the Rev frame is in 2 pieces, I used some washers to make it a wee bit wider to accommodate the tools better. Not too much or else a tool would sit in the gap and have no tension.

The scissors reside under the other tools and acts somewhat as a backstop, at least for the can/package opener. However, the scissors, the file, and the saw needed something to keep them from falling too far into the frame. So I glued some rubber pieces to the frame to act as a tool rest:

The end result is that the tools sit up enough for me to extract them:

The scissors sits low to make room for the other tools and is just barely high enough for me to snag with a fingernail. In fact, I had to grind the opening just a bit wider so that I could access it.
