I don't recall seeing this model before. Is this -that- new? Looks pretty cool. Anyone got one?

Nope, not new.  We've had a review of it here since the site began and I'm pretty certain it was discontinued then! :D

If you decide you want one, make sure the one you buy is a SOG version.  There is a copy, often marked with the Stanley logo, which will likely fall apart during the first or second use.

I've got a Stanley one, and it hasn't fallen apart yet... I'm pretty sure I've even used it more than twice!  :P

You are doing better than Bob then- his performed a spontaneous random disassembly procedure almost immediately.  Yours must be defective, and you should send it in for replacement immediately! :D

Yah, the handle on my Stanley brand version collapsed in my hand and broke off during the first use.  :P  This is no bull, the metal was as soft as plastic. It was really bad. (But maybe just one of those flukes?)

Anyhow, the SOG SwitchPlier is a bigger tool altogether than the mini Stanley version.
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools
