Nope, not new.  We've had a review of it here since the site began and I'm pretty certain it was discontinued then!

If you decide you want one, make sure the one you buy is a SOG version.  There is a copy, often marked with the Stanley logo, which will likely fall apart during the first or second use.

I've got a Stanley one, and it hasn't fallen apart yet... I'm pretty sure I've even used it more than twice!

You are doing better than Bob then- his performed a spontaneous random disassembly procedure almost immediately.  Yours must be defective, and you should send it in for replacement immediately!

Yah, the handle on my Stanley brand version collapsed in my hand and broke off during the first use.    This is no bull, the metal was as soft as plastic. It was really bad. (But maybe just one of those flukes?)


Anyhow, the SOG SwitchPlier is a bigger tool altogether than the mini Stanley version.
