Problem with Cabela's Blast Pliers Wire Cutters
on: January 10, 2013, 11:01:16 PM
Hi, I recently got a Cabela's Edition Leatherman Blast in a trade. When I received, I noticed the pliers head wire cutters isn't equally even compared to the Charge TTI. Is this normal? Would Leatherman be able to fix or replace it?

 That's weird. Do they close up ok? Is the function hindered in any way or is it purely aesthetical?

The pliers itself does close up but not equally in the wire cutters. I think it may hindered the function, as it has less cutting edge.

I don't have any of my Leatherman tools at hand to check, but could it be that one plier half is from and older generation than the other plier half? ???
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I'd send it in to LM.  They will likely either replace the whole tool or just the plier head (and hopefully have a word with their QC people for (A) producing a tool with that fault, and (B) letting it out for sale).  If we don't let them know when there is a problem we can't expect them to fix it.

That will definitely annoy me!

Take it back to the shop or LMs.

I'd agree with this - looks like a mix up of plier parts

My Blast doesn't have that problem, I had send it back to LM for replacement. As if it adds any collector value for the Cabela's version. :twak:

Update I contacted leatherman customer service, the guy told me probably a defect or wrong plier parts. Sent it in for a repair or replacement.
