Here are the inch scales. They need some refinement, but they look great. I chose to go with the 1/64, 1/32, 1/16 and 1/8 increments because I often measure smaller things. Anything larger, I'll get a real ruler.

You used the wrong side of the ruler.

The metric scale is on the other side. :D

My only question is, "why inches on both sides? why not metric on one side?"

It's not, it's only one side. I haven't made the otherside.

I think I am in love.

The empty slot is a place holder for the 1/8" thick scalpel holder. I also flipped the back spring so it'll have two keeping it open and closed. With a blade that is meant to slice and dice, I don't want any thing moving.

I may drop the 3rd layer but it sure is fun!

I have some PS4's coming with torx screws. I am not entirely happy with the ruler scales, just too small to be effective. I'll steal the scales form the PS4's and apply them to the outside.

The only thing left to fabricate is the blade holder.

Not bad

Not at all, I think I'll settle on 3 layers a side, making it a 6 layer tool.

That's, 9 mini tools, and 5 full size tools.

The pivots came in today. Good thing I bough extra, I already botched one. The threads are so small that I torqued one of the button heads off. No matter.

The 1/2" long pivots were too short, to make up the extra length, I took two pivots an cut them to length, the spliced them. This have me a .68" long pivot. I then turned them on the lathe with some 400 grit to get them nice and smooth.

I am still missing the S4 nail file and I may take out the other file all together and try to make a toothpick/pin/poker thing to slide into another one of the tweezer slot layers. I also stole the scales off another torx pinned ps4

In any case, here are some pics! It's a nice little square block of steel, plastic and aluminum.

The second file is in there as a place holder till the S4's come in, as mentioned the file may come out in favor of another tweezer layer.

I am really digging the extra width for the knife and scissors usage.

The plier grip is pretty good too.

On other design notes, I think I may design some new scales to print in stainless steel. Include some ruler indentations, maybe 1/4" bit hex hole.

Nice!  It looks like a big full size tool, then when you have it in your hand you can really see the scale.

For sure, the pivot trick worked. Just had to dive in and try it.

I'll give another SE a go when I need to take a break from Skinth tomorrow. .

The extra width seems worth it in this case.  The ratio of tools to bulk definitely increases for the better.
