Making a 58mm Rambler based Lighterbro tool.
on: August 01, 2019, 02:43:00 AM
Thats right...so I was going to buy a lighterbro multi-tool but frankly I had my doubts on the tool. I said to myself...what if I can make one using a 58mm vic rambler and a bic mini? I had a failed attempt today...lessons learned, but hopefully tomorrow I will have something to show.

What do you think about a Victorinox based Lighter sleave?

Cheers,
H.G.

I would probably try it.  My preference is a mini clipper over bic, because of the refillable aspect, but a SAK based lighter sleeve might get me.

I’m molding poly carbonate around the lighter then going to apply the Vic Rambler with apoxy, hard to say how it will turn out.

Cheers,
H.G.

Great mod.  What did you finally make the sleeve out of?

Plexi glass. I think however, this gives me the drive to make one in 3d and maybe get my 3d printer back up and running. I feel like I could make a fairly good one quite easily.

Cheers,
H.G.

So I was inspired to try my hand at 3d design to make something like this. I am actually quite pleased with it, I even found room for a full 1/4 inch hex bit driver on the bottom.

Cheers,
H.G.

I totally need one of those but for a tube of Chapstick instead of a lighter.

Thats a brilliant Fing idea! must make another variation with that in mind.. that is even easier to do because the shape! Sec...I'm on it. I bet I can also squeeze a bottle opener in there...because hey...everything has to have one right?

I have a bottle opener in my MiniChamp and Vagabond...so I wouldn't need that.  But I sure would love to see what you come up with.  :tu:

Just trying to figure out how to replicate the project without any expensive equipment.  Retired on a fixed pension doesn't leave much for that.

I might do another one out of plexi just to find exact measurements for the plastic and doing a step by step. You can substitute a heat gun with using hot sand instead. The plexi I was using is only...well $6ish? Also I realized I could have easily done this with a flashlight instead of a lighter...wouldn't that be interesting?
