:iagree:  Congrats and glad  you are liking it.  The 85mm line is a good alternative to trying to find 84mm Vics with scissors.

Speaking of 85mm... I'm carrying the S557 in my pocket today. Despite it's size and weight, I find it to be weirdly easy to carry for some reason. I think the thickness makes it less dense than the Deluxe Tinker, which I find to be more noticeable in the pocket.

I got lucky with this one. I snagged it on eBay a few weeks ago for around $30 USD. It's used, but you wouldn't know it to look at it. The S557 is expensive brand new!

That thing looks nice - great catch!  It weighs a bit more than double the weight of a Spartan, which I guess would be a bit of a problem with the sweats that I typically wear. Even the Evo 14 and Climber (which are oddly similar in weight) tend to pull the sweats down on that side so I guess I would entertain having one of those 557s around the house but probably wouldn't carry anything that heavy.  I've been wanting to try a 130mm model but the weight also causes me to hesitate.

The S557 isn’t the slimmest carry, that’s for sure. And I normally wear jeans.

There is some element of a powering through and getting used to the weight of a somewhat heavier SAK, which is what I’ve been trying to do with the S557 and the Deluxe Tinker. Of course, there are much larger SAKs than these models but they are big by my standards and the two heaviest that I own.

Dug out an old mod of mine.  An 84mm Vic with scissors, saw and combo tool.   8)  I'd first tried my hand a modding in order to make the 91mm version of this, but wanted to really lean into the "maximum minimum" idea.

Evolution 18 again today. I wanted to give the wood saw another try on a branch that fell out of a tree in the back yard.

I got the branch in a little better position than I did the last time and had a lot better experience with the tool.

The main problem with the Delemont wood saw is its short length - a saw is just one of those things where more length tends to help.

I agree.  Any saw is better than no saw (when you need one) but a 111mm is going to beat a 84mm one any day of the week.

Today’s pocket carry is my recently acquired Marlboro Adventure Team Spartan NIB.  l added the screwdriver.

A country store PST and adventure team fieldmaster are next on my list. If my collection grows I may start a Marlboro Monday thread.

Beautiful kitty.

 :salute:

BattleKat, a.k.a., Champion Mojo Parfait Delicious, is about 17 years old and in his geriatric years has lost about half of his former 16 lbs.  I have cleaned his whoopsy box about 6,000 times.  He has drawn blood many times during our playtime skirmishes.  But he is a fine and well-behaved kitty who fears nothing except garbage trucks and rain on the window.

Beautiful cat! What kind of diet does he have? Our boy is about 11 now and we're looking to keep him healthy as long as possible!

What kind of diet does he have?

An unlimited amount of Purina Cat Chow.  And recently I've been supplementing with Temptations cat treats, which he begs for.

S557 for me again today.

I'm not sure what it is - I'm just really digging the Delemonts lately! I even bought a new-but-open-box Evolution 11 yesterday on eBay.

I've been playing with my new Evo 14 a lot and am also intrigued by the Delelmont line.  I noticed that the main blade of the Evo 14 is significantly thinner than a 91mm.  Just eyeballing it, it looks slightly thinner than the main blade of a Recruit.  Am I wrong?  Are the 85mm main blades smaller than their Vic 84mm  counterparts?  I also notice that the 85mm line seems to have a smaller flat screwdriver than the 84mm line.  The can openers are the same as the 84mm line but the bottle openers are different.

You're correct on both counts Bunk!

The Delemont line's main blade IS quite thin. I'm not sure if it's thinner than an 84mm Vic but I know for a fact that it's thinner than a 91mm Vic main blade. I'm not sure if it makes much difference in practice though, at least not in the scenarios that I'm likely to be using a SAK blade. In fact, for me, thinness is usually helpful!

And yes, the bottle opener is not the same as the traditional Vic models. My understanding is that they kept the Wenger design because it has that "push lock" that keeps it from closing on you while you're pressing down on it and the traditional Vic version of the bottle opener doesn't have that feature. Meanwhile, they did start putting the Vic can opener on the Delemonts - I'm glad they did because it's my favorite tool and I don't think I would have bought one if they still had the old Wenger lobster claw version.
