You're correct on both counts Bunk!

The Delemont line's main blade IS quite thin. I'm not sure if it's thinner than an 84mm Vic but I know for a fact that it's thinner than a 91mm Vic main blade. I'm not sure if it makes much difference in practice though, at least not in the scenarios that I'm likely to be using a SAK blade. In fact, for me, thinness is usually helpful!

And yes, the bottle opener is not the same as the traditional Vic models. My understanding is that they kept the Wenger design because it has that "push lock" that keeps it from closing on you while you're pressing down on it and the traditional Vic version of the bottle opener doesn't have that feature. Meanwhile, they did start putting the Vic can opener on the Delemonts - I'm glad they did because it's my favorite tool and I don't think I would have bought one if they still had the old Wenger lobster claw version.
Back in high school electronics class in the 60's I used to mount components (like a potentiometer) on aluminum boxes.  Once I got a small hole drilled I often used that can opener like an awl to widen the hole.  I used it similarly on wood.

I started the day with an Evolution 23, and a Farmer X rotated in later. The Bantam remains in another pocket, and the Executive is still on the neck lanyard.

Dug out an old mod of mine.  An 84mm Vic with scissors, saw and combo tool.   8)  I'd first tried my hand a modding in order to make the 91mm version of this, but wanted to really lean into the "maximum minimum" idea.

I really like the white scales. Thats a color I need to add to my collection

I just got the card the other day.  So far I’ve used the scissors and the glass.  Haven’t used the other tools yet.   The card is a functional form factor.  The knife will make a good package opener, and I’ve found the pen, pin, tweezers on my other SAKs useful through the years.  I’m looking forward to seeing how the 4 way screwdriver works when needed.  The card easily fits in a wallet or pocket.  I’ve been dropping mine in my shirt pocket while at work and a I don’t even notice it.  It’s a hair smaller than a credit card but a 2-3 millimeters thicker.

I've had one in the note section of my wallet for a while, now. Fits perfectly.

I carried a swisscard in the note section of my bifold for years too, hardly noticeable until you need it and then it's there to save the day.

I carry mine in front pocket like a normal SAK/foldie or in jacket pocket like a wallet/phone/card holder etc.

Got my black scaled Spartan as on family holiday so no need for the heavy duty alox ( although it is in my bag, never hurts to be prepared 😎 )

No action shot but I had good use of my alox mod today. I understand that the use of plastic should be lowered in the world. But with lunch today we got paper utensils! Paper! Can you believe it?

Anyway to be able to cut my schnitzel I needed a real knife and not a paper one..

For 10 days in a row I carried the Recruit in this picture. I got it NOS from the big auction site and it’s from the 90s.

But I decided that it would only be fair to give the Evolution 14 that’s also on the picture a turn too. I got it around the same time as the Recruit but it needed a bath and a little sharpening to get ready for some pocket time.

I like the Evolution scales, though I know they aren’t for everyone, and it does kind of scratch the itch for a Climber Small. The Climber has been my most-carried SAK this year (though I’ve experimented with a lot of different models). But there’s just something about the 84mm lineup that is kind of magical to me and I’m pretty sad about the lack of 84mm models with scissors.

The Evolution 14 gets darn close though. I like the Wenger scissors and find that they cut just fine - it helps not to get whatever you’re cutting too far back in the blades of the scissors, if that makes sense. The Evolution scales add bulk in the pocket but don’t add any noticeable weight. The nail file in place of the small pen blade is fine and adds some nice variety.

Overall, I like it! But it’s hard to go wrong with a three layer SAK with scissors.

Both SAKs are really good.  Worked in the yard so I had my Champion with me then changed out to my Recruit when I came inside.
