When I was a wee incorrigible in elementary school, we got a Smoky Bear workbook and took a day or so learning all about forest fires and the history of the real Smoky.  Might have been a coloring book.  I don't remember.  I wish I still had the thing.  Could have been some kind of Smoky Bear anniversary or something.  Seems like there was a film strip also.  Best wishes.  G

Is that a walnut Executive?

No, it's actually rosewood. It was a special edition that (I think) came out in the early 90s.

The fam and I are heading up your way tomorrow to visit all our MI peeps. Hoping to see a little snow while we're there.

Christmas ferns and a 108mm.  First time I have carried it in quite a while.  The knife not the ferns.  Walked down the half-frozen mud to check my mail.  Not much traffic.  Folks are either bloated up like a tick from their dinners or watching football.  Maybe both. Best wishes.  G

Rosewood is a win in my book, too! :like: No snow in my little slice of Michigan. Good to see the 108mm again...but I can't say I'm happy with the present score of the football game currently being contested.

95% of the time I carry an Explorer plus and a Manager.  4% of the time its a Swiss Champ.  And 1% I go wild and krazy, with something like a Super Tinker.

Big storm starting about 3AM.  Wind, rain, thunder, the whole deal.  I put out some chicken bones for the vermin and a camera.  They polished things off during a lull in the rain.  Smart.  They know how hard it is to dry a fur coat.  One possum stopped by and ran when the camera LEDs came on.  Funny.  The faint lights never bother the animals.  Poor critter left chicken-free.  Raccoons came by later and did a cleanup.
I went out in my yard and looked down the road to see if there were any downed trees.  Couldn't see too well so I walked down to the edge of the yard.  Threw out some tree limbs, and next thing I know I am walking down the driveway.  I told my feet to stop, but they wouldn't.  I figured feets know best, so I just let them go wherever they wanted to.  I ended up throwing some hand throwing capable debris out of the road and took a photo of a Vic Tourist that I grabbed as I went out the door.  Didn't intend to go anywhere, but an 84mm Spartan Jr. doesn't take up much pocket space.
Photo of the Tourist and a chicken eating raccoon infrared night photo.  Best wishes.  G

Some Xmas shots.

I took the Alox MC, checked in (with the MXBS for any heavy duty use, not required)

The Alox Classic accompanied me on the flight to/from London - Milan (LHR - MXP) with no issues.

Here's the MC under a suitably sized Xmas tree and the Classic in the business lounge, upon departure from MXP (delayed by 90 mins due to fog at LHR  ::)

Have a great New Year awl  :drink:

I had to go down to get a radiator put in my Chevy pickup today.  Got a call this morning that I could come in early.  Fine.  I grabbed a SAK and a coat and headed to town.  Repair went just fine.  Didn't take too long.  All finished, I went to the office to pay.  Then I was tackled to the shop floor and hoisted up with a chain fall upside down while they shook all the stuff out of my pockets.  Money....gone.  Took all the coins that jingled to the floor too.  Took my comb and my Captain Midnight decoder ring.  The boss came out and said, "Is that all he's got?"  They said that's the lot except for this pocket knife.  Boss took one look at it and threw it in the trash.  Luckily, I knew their tricks and had stapled a $20 bill in my underwear so I could at least get home after they finished siphoning the gas out of my vehicle.  Finally they grumbled a little and let me down.  I said, "Thank you."  Then I fished my Sad Wenger out of the trash can and went home.  I did snap a photo of my SAK that was too trashy for them to keep and the nice orderly shop.  A place for everything, and everything all over the place.  Best wishes.  G

The shop is a mess.  I couldn't find anything if I worked in a place like that.  The owner is an old school chum.  He said he was meeting with another old friend for a day out.  I said, "Fishing?"  He answered, "Golf".  It seems the two had been fishing for quite a while when the weather was warmer, but the shop owner got talked into playing some golf.  He said he found his clubs, but it took quite a while to clean the mildew and dust off his golf bag.  Now he looks forward to chasing the white ball.  Best wishes.  G

Love the story.

I tried my hand at golf a few times, but realized for the people I went with golf was just an excuse to be able to walking around and drink beer.  Then my golf clubs were stolen when my storage unit was broken into and I chose not to replace,
