I'm not so sure about that.

If Clockwork Orange was a brand new film released today, it'd still get an "R" rating in the US.

IIRC, there were scenes that had to be cut to prevent it getting an "X" rating. It was banned in the UK for some years after it was released in the USA.

It's a fairly brutal film, and not ridiculous cartoon violence like a typical Bruce Willis flick.

If released today I bet it would slip by with a PG 13 rating if not for the phallic props.

It seems like a movie can have as much blood and guts as the producer wants, but show a boob and its an R rating for sure.

You may be right, but consider:

-Little Alex and his droogs slice the clothes off a woman, then take turns raping her while forcing her husband to watch. That one scene is probably still good for an "R" rating, IMHO.

-There is at least one scene with full frontal male nudity which nearly always gets an "R" rating.

-The near constant presence of drugs, strong language, and casual brutality in the early part of the flick all tend toward an "R."

it was definitely a disturbing movie and I wouldn't let the kiddies see it,
but so many people let "others" take care of their kids, I'm sure they'd see it anyway
