I tried carrying it with the clip, but I pocket carry it inside my pocket not clipped onto my pocket so it just made it extra thick and much more noticeable while carrying.

Technically (in my book) for it to be a alox Explorer it would need a small blade instead of the awl.  ;)

Im just being a smartass though.

Yeah, I guess you are right so we could call it an alox Pioneer Explorer! :)

Either way, I like it and I think the awl makes it more versatile than a second blade!  IMO.

My 2013 Carl Elsener Explorer after 1 week of pocket carry.  I've lightly sanded, oiled, and waxed this knife.

Nice one burnside :tu:

Thanks!

The 1980's era SAKs really seem to appeal to me. I like both celidor and alox models from the 80s. It seems like Victorinox was really on top of their production's quality control in those days. I also grew up in the 80's using SAKs so there is a bit of nostalgia involved as well.

+1.  I couldn't agree more.  Vic was definitely at the top of their game during our childhood, up through the early 90's.

That is a beautiful Explorer you have there.

Yes - very nice. Mine is from the 80's too, but not in such good condition. It's a fine user, but the main blade is a bit bent!

Thanks, NutSAK! Most of my favorite keepers and users are from the 80's and 90's for sure.  :tu:
