Necrothread revival.
I've just had a most unpleasant experience over the attempted purchase of a 10th Anniversary PST (yeah, the gold-plated one), so I thought I should warn any potential purchasers of the # 83/200 tool of the behaviour of the person who I tried to buy it from.
Short summary:
Seller listed it with a low buy-it-now price.
I saw it and bought it, paid immediately, asking the seller to post it with tracking and insurance to "my" US address.
After a couple of days, the seller informed me he was "cancelling" the sale because I wasn't in the US.
I pointed out that I had a US address (as specified in the listing), but if he insisted on selling only to a US citizen I was happy for him to sell it to my friend, who does live in the US.
Now the seller tells me he has changed his mind and the tool is no longer available. Its petty obvious he discovered he set the buy-it-now price too low, so wants to weasel out of the sale.
He still has my money.
I asked eBay to put pressure on him to fulfil his obligations and send me the tool (as far as I can tell they did diddley squat).
I tried to raise a case but the eBay system only has a category of "item didn't arrive", not "seller won't send it" so I have to wait.
After 8 days I was finally able to raise an eBay case. I told the seller: "We have a legal contract. You have my money, I want my tool".
No response from seller, but PayPal suddenly refunded my money (without any explanation).
And as a bonus, eBay removed the negative feedback I left for non-supply after I paid. Nice, huh ? So no one on eBay has any inkling of his previous bad behaviour. Hence my warning here on MTo
I'll bet eBay wouldn't be so nice to me if I decided that I no longer wanted to buy something after I had committed to buy.
Make of the above what you will, but I advise extreme caution if you ever come across this particular tool, especially if the seller seems likely to be the following person:
eBay id: ambassador4him05
Name: Daryle Huff
Phone: (503) 674-0434
PayPal email address: huffnspaz@yahoo.com
Location: Gresham (East side of Portland, OR)
