Alox Compact
on: February 14, 2013, 10:30:05 AM
Did any of you talented folks make one of these? Basically a Bantam with scissors. Given that the Compact is one of my favorite cellidor models I figured it'd be a nice two layer alox model as well.

So.. If anyone has one, I wouldn't mind some droolworthy pictures.. This is basically a request for some alox porn :D

I think it's been done, but there's also a rather lovely discontinued model called the Voyageur which is essentially what you are asking for :)

Yeah.. and it's a looker too.. :D

I think I'd rather have the combo tool instead of the regular cap lifter though since it'd give some more versatility to it.

But yeah, it really is a nice model.. :gimme:

Apparently later models had a combo tool - no idea how rare they are though. I'd jump on one if I saw it! :D

Personally, I'd go for one layer extra with openers and replace the combo tool with a nailfile.
It's not that much thicker but boosts versatility through the roof.
A Cadet with scissors basically. The best combination of the 84mm range.
Say my name.

Basically an Alumnus (which has cellidor scales though): http://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Alumnus

There we go! I thought I'd seen you make one but couldn't find it when I did a search.. :)

You really ought to collect all your pictures and models and so on on a dedicated site or something. That thread of yours is getting rather long and time consuming to dig through. :)

Oh and yeah, about the cadet + scissors.. I like that model as well but I was considering something as thin as possible.

Hmm.. neat.. :)

The thing that brought this up though is that my girlfriend bought me a Bear Grylls Compact Scout for valentine's and it's really slim.. can't even feel it in my pocket. Made me wonder what SAK I could get my hands on that's really slim but still has the essentials. :)

I know, it's another thing on my todo list.  Im building a small gallery site, with all my examples on, as well as a way for people who have ordered customs to check on status and wait time, and then it will link them to pictures of the finished knife when done.  That's my plan at least.

Sounds like a good idea. Don't make your customers go looking for what they want and not be able to find it.. ;)

Oh no.. trust me.. I've already realized it. Or.. rather, my wallet has. :ahhh :D

As beautiful as Robert's work is, I just can't bring myself to call it a "Compact" without the corkscrew and the hook!

Well the 84 is technically a voyageur.   :tu:  So maybe the 93 version can be the large voyageur.

Well.. yeah.. having backside tools in an alox model would be interesting to say the least.

Then again, one of their charms are the smooth back though.
