The case for the Soldier 08 standard issue

Per the SAKWiki, Victorinox reported that the contract for the new Soldier Knife, consisted of an order for 75,000 Soldier knives, plus cases, worth CHF 1.38 million.

I just recently purchased a 09 stamped Soldier and would like to find the actual case/sheath that was given to the Swiss Troops but cannot find any pics online.

Does anyone know what the case/sheath looked like?

Great choice. Tough, well-made, and can be attached to virtually anything that the MOLLE strap can be hooked around, or a standard belt (both through the sleeve in the back behind the MOLLE strap, and using the MOLLE strap for vertical; personally I prefer the former).   I use mine for most 111mms (ironically, I did purchase mine with a Soldier), Swiss Tool, Buck 110, and both the Leatherman Super Tool 300 and Surge. Personally, it's my favorite non-leather factory sheath. It's somewhat expensive compared to the flimsy nylon things most MTs and knives come with, but it's well worth it. For sure, it will hold up to tough military use.

Above, Guardian specified the 4.0838.4 version but the Vic site shows that case is 5.3" tall.  The 4.0822.4 version shows 4.5" tall...  Wouldn't the 4.5" case be the proper one for the 111mm Soldier?   :dunno:

I have a 4.0837.4 for my Hunter Pro, and a case for 111mm without serial no. It carries my camo Fireman.

Misread the subject of this thread.  Thought someone was looking to justify the 08 Soldier.  Thought that was strange as it's such an awesome SAK with great capabilities.

Your right, it’s  4.0822.4   :dwts:  I have 3 of the things one of which holds a Spirit perfectly  so should know. The 4.0838.4 is the newer, bigger, version for the Hunter pro.

Undid the MOLLE strap on mine, and engraved in the back is 4.0837.4. It was sold as being for the Hunter Pro.

Picture from the Victorinox website under accessories for Hunter Pro.....

None of the 4.0822.4 pouches i  have have any markings on the back and at least one is 7- 8 years old.....

That's the pouch I have for my GAK.  It does a great job, as does the knife it carries.
