Bring them inside, but don't wipe the water off, let them dry off on their own. That will do it.  :-\

I predict the file blade or the phillips screwdriver on the Blast will be the first to show rust speckles. (File blade because its likely a harder i.e. higher carbon steel, phillips screwdriver because its got a rough cast surface)

26 hours in the elements! all clear.
I couldn't just leave them! I brought them in, wiped them down.
nothing on either, no rust, no spotting, no marks, nada all clean and good.

When I get a tool, one of the first things I do is wipe them down with Break Free CLP.
I give a full once over. (like I did now) maybe that prevented anything from happening.

Also like mentioned, it was rather chilly, so that could have slowed things down a bit.
I'm glad I did it, at least I feel safer, better that if I do get my tools "wet" they should be
fine.

next test!!!

Even though nothing happened, the LM was at a huge disadvantage because besides the stain proof steel - it is also black oxidized..

Don't ruin your tools, the Leathermans will rust in salt water. I've seen it, I've experienced it, I've moved on with my life despite the trauma. Thank you oh great WD40, ye savior of all things of an organic and ferrous nature.

By the way, it only takes 3 days to rust the tip off of a stainless Gamakatsu fish hook. Owners last a touch longer depending on the line, and Mustad carbon steel hooks rust through in about a day and a half. This is of course with constant immersion in the ocean; sand cooties may be a factor, but I have no test results.
