A Classic with some history behind it.

I love history, and when the chance came up a while back to buy this special Classic from Dunc, I jumped all over it. It is an HMS Victory wood Classic.

I was so stoked about getting this that I bought a few support items from the HMS Victory Oak Collection Here...

A bit of the ships rich history.

And the photos...

A history book with a bookmark from the 1922-27 restoration removed ship's wood. A piece of the hull timber with brass cladding, and the related Classic.

A closer look at the knife.

A little Leatherman information.

Beautiful knife, Dan; I'd be tempted to carry it if I had one that looked that nice. o.o

Okay, I thought the Mammoth ivory scales were cool. This one is insane.

I have an absurd sick fascination with tall ships, and the Victory is maybe the most famous of them all. That is so cool it makes my brain bleed.

Chaco, a marvelous knife with a lot of history wrapped up in it.

To you and Lynn and anyone else interested: I just finished "The Victory of Seapower: Winning the Napoleonic War 1806-1814". It's volume 4 of a five-volume set, Pictorial History series. This one covers the Royal Navy from Trafalgar to the end of the war. Volume 5 covers the War of 1812. A tremendous amount of information illustrated by contemporary prints and drawings. Richard Woodman; published by Chatham 1998, reprinted 2001, ISBN  184067 3591.

Guess who grew up on C. S. Forester.  :D

Classic: we dutch still have a piece of timber from the HMS Prince Charles - Battle of Chatham in 1667.
It was the worst defeat in the Royal Navy's history.. We're all good friends again.  ::)

Could be seen on the exhibition "Royal River: Power, Pageantry and the Thames."
