OtterBoxes!!!!
on: November 04, 2008, 01:32:31 AM
I think I've found the perfect edc case for gear, gadgets, batteries, etc. I use the model #1000 OtterBox in clear. Here is the link:

http://www.otterbox.com/search/1000/otterbox-1000/

The size is approx. 5" X 3-1/2" which is just about perfect for any bag or pack. I used mine to make a mini survival kit. I like the fact that it's waterproof and the quality is so good. I would highly recommend these cases!  :tu:

Now I just need to buy more of them!  :ahhh

I've got one of those.  Great pieces of kit.  I have put basic first aid items in it and keep it in my car.
I'm back!!

To those who have owned both brands...which is better?

Pelican or Otterbox?

Pelican is a little better, but they don't have the size I need. Their smallest size is just a little too big for me. Both companies offer great products!  :tu:

Quality wise, I really see very little difference.  They are both really good, and I usually buy whichever one has the size I need, and is available when I need it.

The OtterBox cover I have for my PDA was the absolute best- so good in fact, I bought one for each member of my family since we all carry PDA's!  Unfortunately my new Smartphone is too small to fit it, and I don't have the PDA I bought it for anymore.

So, if anyone wants a deal on a bullet, water and dustproof PDA box that allows you to use it while it's completely protected, let me know!

I can vouch for Pelican cases, we used them in the army to store and transport our Barrett M82s. They took a lot of abuse and held strong.

StormCase is another variation on the theme.

I'm looking for a box like those. It seems to me that in the size i need (otterbox 2000) that Pelican does not have a watertight version, only water resistant, according to their website. So that choice is made easy for me.

I have absolutely no problem with either manufacturer- both Otter and Pelican have stood up to all kinds of abuse!
