This was posted over on Knifeforums in the SOSAK section, and thought it might get a crowd here as well.

Here is the manufacturer's web page:

There are some pictures of someone who did this to a OHT, looked interesting.

Whoa! Am I understanding right that the clip is held on with adhesive tape alone? :o

That looks to be the case. I think it goes something like this:
1) Clean the area with the provided alcohol prep pad.
2) Apply the little adhesive strip (tape).
3) Place the straight (not bent) piece to the tape.
4) Screw the bent/curved pocket clip to the straight (not bent) piece you just stuck to the tape.

Wonder how well it would hold up. Interesting though huh?

Yes very interesting! Looks easy enough that even us ameteurs could manage. :)

Hmmm, I wonder if this might be the solution for CGK's poor X-tract?

I wonder if it really works though in real life :-\, tape doesn't much like strong sunlight, and I'm pretty sure it's not to fond off rain either!

Well, at least if it failed, your knife, multi-tool, gun, whatever, would just drop to the bottom of your pocket.

I kind of look at it this way too. You get a pretty nice little pocket clip if you wanted to try to permanently mount it with screws or maybe JB Weld or something like that.  I would imagine it would work better on a smooth surface like a Vic Spirit as opposed to an uneven surface like the OHT. Hope the fellow over on Knifeforums.com reports back after he's had it for awhile.

Stop showing my work...I'm embarrassed enough by it .  Benner- the hole is where I tried to attach a pocket clip with a rivet, obviously it didn't work.  I also broke off the rectangle piece of the grip at the pliers lock, I was trying to get the grip off to try something else, obviously that didn't work either.  Perhaps thats why I'm trying to get rid of it, its a constant reminder of my failure.

I guess I proved my wife right, she always says I take everything new and "make it junkie".

BTW-nobody tell her I said she was right.

That's a bummer man.  :(   So can new scales be made from wood or something? I take it they are attached by adhesive as well as the front screw and the back rivet?

I would think making a new scale would be rather labor intensive for the pay-off.  Its attached by a kind of snap fit as well as the screw and rivet.  I may have been able to do it if I could have removed the rivet.  In any case the Skeletool has replaced it for me.

I'll ask him if you don't mind? :-\

I don't care. I'm ate up, she knows I'm ate up and she knows that I knows that too. She cringes every time I get a tool out to fix something. Also, I let her make most of the decisions of the household but I do reserve VETO power. Although I know she's usually right so I rarely use it.

I should have held out for VETO power.....

Can't really tell how hard it would be to make the scales for that tool, but they are pretty inexpensive (relatively) and I think you're right about it being a lot of effort for the payback.

I've never handled one personally so I don't know much about them.
