on: June 19, 2019, 05:22:53 PM
Just tried a search for multitool on wish, lots of cheap and cheerful options, any good?

I bought the fake LM Tread from wish and the quality is amazing
And it looks exactly the same as the real one even has the LM logos
I can’t say anything about the tools you are showing
But we have ordered loads of other stuff from them
And we have been happy with all of their things we got  :tu:

Between Ebay and Wish I have gotten so many knockoffs and OPTs its hard to remember what came from where...though it all probably came same plants.
So with that said I am going to go over a bunch of stuff of unknown origin

Its hit and miss
Some stuff is good
Some is passable
And some is horrible

Some Items (will be using genuine brand names for ID purposes of knockoffs)
--------
My Fixr came with unground screwdrivers, I can fix the sloted but philips is another matter

The Shard knock offs are often no comparison and are junk

Avoid the knockoff Leatherman OPT designs they tend to be thicker, with soft rounded stampings instead of crisp edged

Most other pry tools seem ok

Those ring tools/hex drivers are good, a little soft on the corners but good.

Some of the knockoff maxpedition pouches arent bad. I have the pocket organizer and the Fatboy IFAK pouch and while they arent as solid as the real thing they should work for light duty stuff.

The spring baton I got is good though I cant say for the solid tube ones. I've never heard anything good about the cheaper solid ones reguardless of seller/source

Throwing knives...its hard to mess up cheap throwing knives.

The 'bear grylis' fire starter was ok, if a bit more toy than its Gerber namesake

The aluminum 'tank' match safes are good with solid machining; but they do have that aluminum squeel indicating that the thread pitch isn't quite right. But thats the diffrence between 2$ Wish and 30$ ExoTac

And speaking of ExoTac the nanostriker knockoff works well though the threasd between the fero rod and the body are loose and need a touch of threadlocker or teflon tape

UrbanPals are just a basic cheap push dagger, they work but are no Cold Steel, they dont even look alike

The GDC zip blade and hook blade coppies are spot on

The timberline tool is a mixed bag, the screwdriver and shieth are bad but the edge is sharp

Gravity hooks are a fun toy reguardless who is making/selling them, but just a toy
-----

Please note these are just my thoughts on a few items and for many I cannot say for certain which items came from which source.
I have also bought a bunch of other stuff off wish in the past as well.

The pic is just some items I had near and didnt have to look for

I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.

I own this one:

It's actually somewhat okay. The pliers are light duty, but precise and can pull out an arm hair. The bit driver works just like a Gerber adapter, but the knife has a square shank instead of a screwdriver to put it on, so you always need the bitdriver adapter.

The can opener is crap, The design is poor and it really chews up a can lid. I often get partway through and then reach for a better tool.

None of the tools are locking except for the main blade.

The blade dulls very quickly. It can be sharpened and is briefly sharp, but the edge doesn't last at all.

Overall, the Outu switchblade pleirs are a far better tool. All the drivers lock, the pliers are better - smaller but thicker and more robust - and the blade is plain-edged and stays sharp longer. (Link here if you don't know the tool I'm talking about: https://www.amazon.com/OlogyMart-Multitool-wrench-Screwdriver-Pliers-Survival/dp/B07GRD2JPP)

I actually use the Outu often, but the knife you were looking at (mine is branded NewPow)... well, I stole the bit adapter kit for my MP600 and the knife is languishing in the "not useful" tool bag.

Charles.
