What is your one fav tool on a MT?
on: April 16, 2008, 02:30:51 AM
What is everyones favorite and most useful tool on a MT(the one tool you have to have or don't need that MT for lack of this particular tool).
Mine is probably the wire cutters I think I use them more than any other single tool. :multi:

I would have to say the serrated blade. I use this all the time because it can cut so many different things and it stays very sharp..

The knife blade and screwdriver ;)
And if it's on the particular Multi I'm EDCing, the scissors :climber:

I like a one handed opening body burying blade- you never know when it'll come in handy!   >:D

Seriously, I find myself almost always either needing or wanting scissors.

Its amazing how different everyone is because some of these tools I probably wouldn't really ever need,  but since I do have them on some of my MTs I do occasionally use them ex. the awl and/or the serrated blade. Thats why the amount of MTs are so diverse I guess. :D

Metal File/Saw.

No one ever has a file/saw that can deal with metal. It's saved me and those around me a lot of hassle a lot of times.

Spoon, out of all MT files which one is your favorite?

The Victorinox file works the best for everything but metal, it's gentle enough to do fingernails but handles plastics and wood just as well. It also seems to "guide" better than other files when doing metal but doesn't cut as well as the diamond file.

The Leatherman Diamond file is the best for metal but I generally don't carry one with me so have had little chance to use it. I think I may bust open my Pulse and swap the diamond file with the one in my Kick Mod.

Yeah thanks for the link.  That is one great mod :multi: I just don't have the MTs, the time or the money to do them, would be fun though. :D

On my Fieldmaster I use the small blade most followed by the scissors so I guess you could say that those are my "favorite".

I use the pliers the most. I don't think of them as my favorite tool but I think this answers your question.

Pliers are my most used tool, but the C4 punch is my favourite tool! I've got no use for it, but what a great tool! :D

Question 1: Pliers and their wire cutters for sure.
Question 2: Locking tools. I always manage to somehow get the screwdrivers to fold back onto my fingers occasionally.

In the order of most frequently used to less frequently used.
Pliers
Screwdrivers
Sissors
File
Awl
Can opener/bottle opener

I much prefer locking tools & blades.

In use, I prefer locking tools. But for EDC I prefer non-locking due to the great laws we have here in the UK.  ::)

I figured all the guys from UK would prefer nonlocking for EDC.  I guess a little birdy told me. :D

Pliers otherwise I could make do with a SAK .
Locking tools because they are safer . As for the UK laws  I'll cross that bridge when I get to it  ;) Although I have just got a Non locking SOG for if I have to go to any sensative areas . The chances of me being stopped and searched are very thin .
