Favourites tools
on: April 29, 2013, 09:41:15 AM
I love polls. I think it is a good way to make recommendations for a tool. I'm planning to start a poll with no more than 10 tools in each category. Before I decide which tools to include in each category, I'd like you guys to add any tools you think deserves a place in the top 10. I'll start......
My favourite key chain tool:
Micra, Style, Style CS, Style PS, Squirt S4, Squirt P4, Squirt PS4, Gerber Dime, SAK Classic, SAK Manager
My favourite pocket sized tool:
Juice S2, Juice CS4, Skeletool CX, Freestyle, SAK Cadet, SAK Tinker, SAK Farmer, SAK Climber
My favourite full size tool for use:
Wave, Rebar, Super Tool 300, Surge (2013 model), Spirit, Swisstool, SAK Swiss Champ
My favourite full size tool to admire:
Charge TTi, Spirit RT
As you can see I need loads of suggestions for the last category.

think you have most of them covered there, my favourites are all there  :tu:
1 swisschamp
2 spirit
3 wave
4 vic Farmer

none of the above are quite 'perfect', and some of the others you've listed are pretty good   :salute:

You could add SOG CrossGrip, CrossCut and LM Crunch to your poll options.

Hummm.  I'd be tempted to split your " full size tool for use" category in two; some of those tools are in the 4" group and some are 4 1/2", makes a big difference in my head.  So I'd classify the Vic Spirit and the Swisstool as being in different classes.

anyway, off the top of my head I'd suggest;

keychain.
Micra, PS4, Dime, Vic Rambler.

Pocket.
LM Juice Sc2, Gerber Octane, Vic Compact.

Full sized (4").
Gerber MP400/450, Vic Spirit, LM Pulse.

Full sized (4 1/2").
LM Supertool 200, Gerber MP600.

These are just ones that I know and love and would happily recommend to others.  Lots of other good suggestions have already been made I think. :tu:

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Ooh, forgot about tools to admire.

LM Crunch for it's engineering plus any of the Spirits for their ergonomics, aesthetics and fit & finish. 8)

Not sure if this counts as keychain or pocket, but the Executive is a good SAK.

Also for pocket, I would add the Explorer (or Yeoman), Juice KF4 and Alox Pioneer for those who don't need the Farmer's saw.

For use I would say you have that covered, at least for what I consider users for me.

As for admiration, I agree with the couple you have.  I would say any of the Swisstools would qualify as they are rather easy on the eyes.  I would add the PST/PSTII for the classic Leatherman look and simplistic design.  It's hard for me not to pick up my PSTII and admire/fiddle with it :D  I would also say it could qualify under the pocket carry category as it's very pocketable imo.
