two nice Victorinox SAKs
on: May 16, 2013, 02:54:42 PM
My latest Victorinox SAKs is a 3.3600 and a Secretary. I had both from before but not with these stamps. On the 3.3600 (mainside stamp) we see the one that looks like the 1973-1975 (eco stamp). But it is not since the other side got the victorinox switzerland stainless rostfrei on it. I have seen this before for sure, now i have one in the Collection.
The corkscrew on this is golden almost, also seen before.
Very well made knife and no warping or any negative details. I Wonder if this is a mid 70s knife. Or more close to 1980?
The Secretary i already had got the Victoria crossbow backside, this latest do not, this also got brass spacer. Could be a early 80s knife.

I've never seen that combo before, either. Usually blades with the 70's style Elinox stamp (like on the front of this one) are blank on the reverse. Two questions for you:

- How thick is the tang of the main blade? These 1970s Elinox blades are typically 2.2mm, but the stamping on the back makes me wonder if this is either a 2.4mm or 2.7mm blade.

- You have a Motorist with the same mid 1970s Elinox stamp. Is that one blank on the back too? How think is that blade at the tang?

Hi
Yes usually it is blank on the backside, this is a variation. Only seen it one time before. I do not have a digital meter but it looks like 2,2+ and the Motorist is blank on the backside and seems to have the same thickness on the tang 2,2+

Checked again and it looks like 2,2mm, i put a + on since it could be some over 2,2mm but not 2,4mm...Maybe 2,25 or so. Difficult with manual meter  :)
