Filework

Just wanted to know what the filework blades are all about - really like this http://www.swissbianco.com/products/sak/foldingknives/filework-reed-alox-soldier-detail.html but its a fair bit more than the copper or orange soldier he has?

Can't even see what pattern that is from the tiny pic'.  Probably a vine.

it's one of those things that is not hard to do, but hard to do well.

and like anything, practice makes perfect...  mine is still a long way from perfect. ::)

Tom Stratton does the file work for Swiss Bianco and his work is very nice.
Just not something I choose to collect at all.

They are beautiful looking indeed - Is this just aesthetics or does this provide any real improvement on the blade?

They seem to be a lot more especially if just for aesthetics still  :gimme:

If left unpolished it acts like jimping and gives better grip for your thumb/forefinger depending on how you are holding the knife.

Polished up it tends to lose the sharp edges and more just looks purty.
