Leatherman 25th Anniversary Wave Question.
on: September 05, 2013, 12:13:34 AM
I bought this model a few years ago WITH the intention of useing it BUT as yet i still havent! Its just to shiney and clean and nice looking. Heck even the sheath is shiney and i found out just now that it will carry horizontally as well, aarrrggghhh. So there she sits in her shiny tin, again.
Heres the question, what do i do with her? Start cutting bull-wire or drop her in the mud, maybe chip the blade like my Fuse? Oh i dont know, any advice or is this a problem that only i have?

Sooooo .... the problem is it's too shiny and unused .... but what is it you want us to say? You already know how to fix that  >:D Sometimes when a tool is first used you mother it a little because you don't want to "ruin" it, but once it picks up it's first few scratches and transitions from showpiece to workhorse, things get a whole lot easier  ;)

I have a 2010 Victorinox Spirit RT in the same predicament. The reason it doesn't get used is I don't need to ... yet. The 2010 RT is essentially a Spirit X which I already have and use. Once I've used that into submission, or if I have a catastrophy with it, then I'll move onto the RT  :tu:

I suspect there could be quite a queue of "nice, helpful guys" on this forum if Phil really didn't want his anniversary Wave      :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme:

You know guys, im touched by the generosity and helpfulness of the forum!  ;)  Yeah so i decided last night that finally id take it out of the tin! Guess what, shes still there lol! Ive never had a multitool/SAK ive never used before and im worried that this might be the start of a collection. I dont consider my other tools a collection coz i use them, if that makes sense!

The collecting bug has bitten - you are now officially doomed !  :tu:  (but the flash harry LM Anniversary tools were always meant to be collected rather than used, if you want a "user" then the standard versions make much more sense).

I'm also a user not a collector and I think it would be a shame to use it.

I think you deserve to buy yourself a new multitool for keeping a mint anniversary wave. :)

When it comes to an obvious collectible like that I always suggest reading it to a collector for something more useable.  As a user it will work just as well as a regular issue model but you'll be able to help someone else fill out their collection.  Basically, trade it to someone who will appreciate the words inscribed on it, since as a user the things written on it don't matter.

I thin that is probably the best solution.  Can you imagine the crying from me and others at the thought of one of those actually getting scratched up?

I don't think there's any need to post it in the for sale section... several members have already shown interest in this thread. seems like gregozedobe is first in line for any potential purchase/trade.

If you really do want to "catch-and-release" this tool I'm interested, I can do either paypal $$$ or a trade.  Let me know what you want.
