Wow, what must they have been doing to do that! The only mention of a plier breakage on a ST is the one dunc (?) head of the guy who used to hold bits he was welding with it. On a side note, why doesn't the guy just send it back to Vic i'm sure they would repair it for him.

I also like how he says "Tool is in good condition" .....you mean apart from the lack of one plier jaw!! :D

I contacted the fellow. Apparently it broke while he was trying to straighten out a paper clip. He said his Leatherman Wave finished up the job just fine.  :)

All right you Leatherman guys need to fess up.We all know the only way a SwissTool would have been broken was if someone tried to cut a piece of Rebar. :DIt's a shame to see what lengths the Leatherman folks will go to to show the world that Swisstools can be broken like Leatherman's can. :D

I thought it was actually SOG propaganda.... they post a broken Vic that they figure everyone will blame LM for.... let those two camps fight it out, then when both are weak, SOG steps in and points out this wouldn't happen with compound leverage!  :P

Wouldn't compound leverage make it easier to break, since you can put more force on the jaws?  :P

Story just in:

The Swiss Tool snapped as a result of a act of bravery.  A man was walking down the street and saw a trash truck go by with a puppy following it.   As the truck stopped at the intersection the puppy jumped in the back because its master threw away his favorite red ball.

As the truck started to compress the trash the little puppy was trapped and soon would be crushed.
The brave SAK owner opened his beloved Swiss Tool and shoved the pliers into the gears.

Grabbing the puppy in the nick of time before the 50,000 pounds of force snapped the plier head.

Hearing something that sounded like a gun shot the sansination engineers jumped out of their truck and ran to the back to see the brave man holding the frightened puppy. Asking what just happened he told the story.

Seeing the awesome quality and strength of a Swiss Tool both the driver and the handler took off their Leathermans and threw them into the trash and was heard saying "That's where they belong."  :drink:

I bet the Suspension would have held 60,000 lbs. Ya know it is the future of MT's and it is made of superior steels for reliability.

Now if you excuse me I have to go put on my tin foil hat.

My condolences to the SwissFans. :D

But serriously, I'm sure there's a good story of abuse behind that picture...

Well, either that, or I've seen enough LM disaster pics to know better. I'm just content to see that Swisstools are human too. :P Tools are human, right?

I don't see what the big deal is. I buggered up a LM Supertool 200 so bad it had to go back to the factory. Unless it has 1 part, there is a chance for failure at some point.

The big deal is this is the first pic any of us has seen of a Swisstool with broken pliers . This is not just another Leatherman/Gerber broken plier pic .This is the first one weve seen so we'd all quite like to know how it happened .

Like Dunc said, it's practically unheard of for a swisstool to fail, if it was an LM or a Gerber we'd think nothing of it (no, thats not a dig) I'd like to know how it happened too ???
