On a side note. I actually will be going to Concord bridge this week and laying down flowers for the British soldiers lost.

We never wanted your little country anyway :P :D

Joking aside, it was a fairly horendous war with a great deal of barbarity on all three sides (let not forget the french contribution) so let's hope all the soldiers are resting in peace.

Here Here. I actually love living in such a historic area, but unfortunatly most people dont look at all the history of the war.. That was one long march for the soldiers, and it really was a disaster for both sides.

However it did save us from having that game of crickett come here.

Well sadly we were stuck with it ::)

That march would be horrendous today, but modern armies wouldn't have had to contend with the vicious, debilitating diesease that they had to contend with back then :(

they had a really good show about this on the history channel a couple of weeks ago,
I learned a lot. If England hadn't been involved is so many other wars around the world and if the French
hadn't helped, it might have been a whole other ball game! We'd be complaining about the
damn knife and gun laws too!  :twak:

According to Wikipedia:

Quote
George Washington was born on February 22, 1732 [O.S. February 11, 1731][1] the first son of Augustine Washington and his second wife, Mary Ball Washington, on the family's Pope's Creek Estate near present-day Colonial Beach in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He was educated in the home by his father and older brother.

Looking at both of our respective governments I don't think brains is something either of us have in abundance.

Folks,

I found a good website showing some of the differences between us...for example:

1) Buns. You know what these are. You're probably sitting on them now. Over here buns are either bread or cake rolls. Asking for a couple of sticky buns in a bakery here will mean Mr Crusty the baker will give you two cake buns with icing (frosting) on the top. If I went into a deli in Manhattan and asked for a couple of sticky buns I'd probably get arrested...

2) Fag. A goody but an oldie. Over here a 'fag' is a cigarette. So in the song 'It's a long way to Tipperary' the line 'As long as you have a Lucifer to light your fag' is not a fundementalist Christian's statement that all homosexuals will burn for eternity in hell, but saying that 'if you always have a match to light your cigarette...'

3) smurfs. Meat balls made from offal (chopped liver) in gravy. Also a small bundle of logs suitable to burn on a fire.

4) Pants. You call pants what we call trousers; pants are the things that go underneath.

5) Rubber. In this country a pencil eraser. Don't be shocked if the mild mannered new Englishman in your office asks for a pencil with a rubber on the end. Especially when he says that he enjoys chewing it when he is thinking.

The rest is at :

We have plenty of those here too. Some of us call ourselves libertarians. Basically a bunch of pissed off people(with guns) that are simply sick and tired of both Democrats and Republicans.

Oh trust me, we've got a few hack off people on these shores too, there's a good reason why they've pulled all the citizens teeth, and issued the army with the most unreliable rifle in the history of firearms >:(

Isn't the updated model a whole lot better? I know the original was a bit dodgy but i thought the new one was a lot more reliable.

The new one (made by HK) is a hell of a lot more reliable, but it's still a looong way from perfect, hence why units that can choose like the Marines, Sas, Sbs carry M16A2 instead.

Yah it actually is really sweet. the inner guts all really changed in it, It is no longer gas operated. so it runs cooler. they retain the shape of the M4 so less training time is needed during the transition. it also since now a blowback not gas runs also cleaner.

It also has the full auto back on it . it kept the 3 round burst but they are bringing back the full rock version!!!!

So three modes. single, three round, full.

Yup thats the animal. It is at the Natick lab now down the road going through the tests. It looks like a keeper. They have one with 20,000 rounds through it with no cleaning and no stoppages.
