They have one with 20,000 rounds through it with no cleaning and no stoppages.
Well you got to remember that during Vietnam the rifles had no cleaning kits, Forward assist, and the chamber and barells were not chrome lined. Also they changed the powder to make it burn better.God I got to get a hobby.
Well we both then need to got out more.
For my money I think we should have bought the Steyr AUG instead, not that I'm trying to imply that I know more than those in power of course
Yah it actually is really sweet. the inner guts all really changed in it, It is no longer gas operated. so it runs cooler. they retain the shape of the M4 so less training time is needed during the transition. it also since now a blowback not gas runs also cleaner.

The big difference is that the M16/M4 use direct impingement where the gas from the barrel is channeled directly back to push back the bolt in the chamber. In the HK 416 the gas from the barrel is channeled into a piston, the piston then hits a rod which is what pushes the bolt back. Since the bolt and chamber isn't directly getting hot gases(and crap) from the barrel it's a lot cleaner. The advantage of the direct impingement system is that with fewer moving parts the potential accuracy is better and theoretically less chance of parts breaking. Although most modern day assault rifles use the gas piston method and it has proven to be durable enough for combat. Now this is a very simplistic overview of it but it does explain the major difference.
Rollerlock aint a HK invention.Anyone know the pistol that started it all?
Just remember it was the British fighting the British. Americans did not exist...in fact the first Presidents were born and bred in England.Flash
Nope the true roller lock came out with the Checz CZ 52 pistol. It actually was also a true magnum using a stepped down case. 2500 ft per sec for a pistol.
there's not been much reason to get into them over here

I'm fortunate that I live in a state that is very lenient when it comes to gun laws. If I wasn't so fortunate I think I would consider moving but, of course, I would not have to consider another country. You have my sincere condolences .
Without getting into excruciating detail of the firearms laws in the UK, I do have one question. Are you able to hunt with firearms?EDIT: Nevermind. I just read up on UK laws and the Hungerford and Dunblane masscres. So, it appears that you're limited to blackpowder and shotguns with 24" minimum bbl length and maximum 2+1 cartridge capacity.
