Can you believe this? I think this is a little excessive. Yeah he made a mistake but like the article says, he isn't a violent person. But he committed the ultimate sin. He stole money from the gov't. As far as the gov't is concerned there is no other crime that compares to this. If you do this you WILL pay.

Since the jails are so overcrowded I wonder how long the violent criminal that he replaces in the prison system will wait before they rape or kill someone.

He'll be sent to White Collar prison most likely, not to the high security joints.
It's a little silly certainly, but when a public figure flaunts his lack of respect for the IRS, they get pissy.
Don't screw with the IRS.

I actually know a guy who's getting screwed by the IRS right now; he got defrauded recently from his bank account for quite a bit of money, and now he's being screwed by the bank. They screwed up, and don't want to give him his money; as a reward for him looking into it, they invited the IRS to take a good long hard look. Surprise surprise, there are problems with his ex-wife's returns from several years ago. This little saga will cost him months and quite a bit to his tax attorney, and the IRS WILL find something if they look hard enough.

Sounds like NJ.  Law enforcement here WILL NOT go after murderers, drug dealers or pedophile(they would fight back and hurt the cop)

But if they catch you driving without auto insurance .  They'll pull out all stops to make sure you get 25 years to life, NO PAROLE!!

He probably won't do much if any actual time, and what he does do will be at a minimum security resort.  The courts tend to be harder on folks who deliberately flout the law than those who do it by accident or out of necessity. 

Plus, regardless of what you say about the government and what's righteous and fair, the bottom line is governments run on money, and the amount that a guy like Wesley Snipes would pay in a year is probably more than all of us here combined would be.  That's a significant loss, and I'm surprised no one caught it sooner.
