Is it bad that each time I see that set my eyes go straight to the sheath and not the multi.

Congrats on the acquisition, Emil. What number did you get?

I do have the urge to use it, I might buy another one so I can field test one to see how the gold plating holds up. If I do I will post my tests.

Might be better to get a non numbered one from TTC to do the test though. :D

It is the special black edition, yes. Also, they have a normal ST300/Micra set for $69.99, Style PS and K1 for $19.99, and a coloured version of the Style CS with K2 for $19.99 also.

For Christmas I was given the 30th anniversary Micra. It was bought individually which I didn't know you could do.

Yes, you can. They have a promo on them listed individually on December. There's a thread about here somewhere.

Edit: found one but there's at least one more.

HI. I am a new member and just started to collect Leatherman multi-tools.  I just received a 30th anniversary wave model. Here is the issue - it is 2 out of 60, which is awesome, but it seems to have two saws. I doubt this is normal. Anyone else have one of these and can confirm?

Should i return it to cabela's? Return it to Leatherman? Or just keep it with two saws?

Thanks for the feedback.

Well that should be a bit embarrassing for someone! :P This time though I suspect the mix up took place at Texas Tool Crafters, not at Leatherman itself. TTC would have had to completely disassemble the tools before gold plating them. They probably did a whole batch of components, then whoever was re-assembling them messed up and put two saws on yours.

Personally, I would save it just the way it is. Makes it even more rare and valuable! :tu:

Ii don't think that is a TTC one, Bob.

That's actually the first 30th anniversary WAVE I've seen. We had ST300 and Micra. TTC's Charge TTi but this is the first Wave.

Is Cabelas selling a special too?

EDIT: it appears they are. And it is indeed gold plated, so yes, probably TTC. Didn't look like gold in the pic.

Yep, and there's only supposed to be 60 of them made:  http://www.cabelas.com/product/LEATHERMAN-TOOL-GRP-TH-ANNIVERSARY-GOLD-WAVE/1782455.uts

Leatherman had the 30th Anniversary Charge TTi's done by Texas Tool Crafters, and I'm fairly certain they did the work on these Waves too. :)

So you would keep it with the two saws and missing file? I guess i am concerned that it would be worthless. As no one would want this down the road because of the missing file.
I really don't know what to do. I am not a big collector of items like this and dont want to make my first purchase of a leatherman colectable be worthless.

@gstepp22  I'd also keep the gold wave.  If you have all the paper work that came with the tool plus its in fact numbered 2 of 60 then you may in fact have a unicorn  :D. There are LM and MT collectors that like the odd ball tools.  You'd be surprised at what collectors are turned on by and this very well may be an item of interest.  Its certainly an interesting piece and some collectors here on MTo have some neat "off" tools that most definitely shouldn't have left the factory.

I agree, oddballs are cool. Here's an old style Wave of mine (on the right) that escaped the factory with two sets of scissors. 8)

I'd imagine the odd ball that escapes the factory is rather rare but its super neat.  Your Wave is awesome with the dueling scissors  :tu:
