Wera nice Grant  :like:

The PW has lots more gripping power than Cobras of the same size.

From my own experience the smallest PliersWrench are still fully useable, while the Cobra XS could use some longer handles in some situations.

Either way I like them both  :tu:

 :iagree:

I do like both or just about anything Knipex...consider me a fan!

I’m just feeling like anyone arguing against the PliersWrench might simply need to give them a try first.

Autocorrect got me a bit in the last post. “My guess not advice...” lol. I think my phone is taking over.

I guess it depends on what you use them for. If you work mostly with nuts and bolts, the PW is your pick. If you need to hold on to or manipulate other objects or pipes, the Cobra is your choice. Good thing Knipex has both  :D

“If you need to hold on to or manipulate other objects”  ...which I do...PW is my most often my choice.

Bending, holding, crushing, clamping, pressing, flattening, twisting, rounding...are just some of the things I’d use the PW for.

I have all the sockets and drivers that I need for nuts n bolts...probably wouldn’t grab the PW for much of that. I don’t even see the crescent really overlapping the PW functions.

But I do see how I might use both PW and Cobra together when pipe and a fitting are involved.

I think the PW is a whole ‘nother thing. And yes, good thing they make both!  :tu:

Interesting, I thought you would primarily use a tool like the PW for nuts and bolts. Could you show us one or two of your usage scenarios please?

Since this is a SAK forum...Fix a corkscrew, press on a set of scales, straighten a bent scissor tip. Those were the last three things I did with them.

It really is a brilliant tool. I keep finding new uses for it...for tasks that I used to use many other tools to do.

The main limit to my 125 is the jaw size, and why I want to add the 175/7”.

The last couple of non-SAK things I fixed were a zipper pull and an old stapler.

It’s like a vice with tiny jaws, which fits in your pocket.

I hope that explains better why I’d suggest to anybody to get a pair.

Oh Dear, I stepped away from this forum for a little while (because I'm weak and easily 'persuaded') but just decided to 'drop in' for a little catch up  and now I've just ordered the Cobra & Plier Wrench combo set from Amazon....

I feel like an addict that has fallen off the wagon right now. The Mrs won't be happy, maybe I can intercept the delivery?

Never mind, tomorrow is a new day...

At least it's a bit easier to justify acquiring tools that make you handy to have around.

Just don't let her see the whole collection at once  :o

Whoa, how did I miss out on this subject?
I think multitools are great, but there only great for light duty, same thing for sak, yeah it’s a knife but the screwdrivers will only take so much torque, but these sak’s with pliers on them I can believe they even put them on the knife,, but doing this is the smart thing using an actual pair of pliers, now I’ve never seen this “ Practical Toolset” that someone posted way back but that there is the ultimate combo! Just put whatever sak that fits you and a pair of actual pliers!
Unfortunately I don’t need to carry pliers anymore or else I’d get me a nice pair of small channel locks that a sak would slip between the handles or find some unique sheath,,

Cobra and Super Tinker.  The ST was a medical school graduation gift in 1986.  The Cobra was an early Valentine's Day gift from my girlfriend a few days ago.  It replaced a 4/12 inch Crescent water pump plier I had been using..

I like this pairing better than all the plier-based multitools I've tried.

Probably sticking with this until Victotinox comes up with an Alox option with the same Phillips.

2nd post btw. Thanks for the add.

  Yeah, and I’m glad Valentine’s is on Sunday, because no deliveries.

...

Was thinking about your request for uses earlier as I was doing some SAK fixin. Used the PW (help) remove, reinstall and modify some scissor springs.

Late-‘73 136ka - Craftsman with the modified double leaf spring that was broken and in another knife. This one was going into EDC rotation and I didn’t want a ‘correct’ vintage double leaf in this one.

Thanks Matt! This one is nice enough and was my only non +PAT Craftsman for a while. I got a better ‘74 copy, so this one got rotated to EDC, and needed lots of prep and cleaning prior to use.

You should do it! It’s a good way to reuse the broken ones.

I had the 125mm knipex cobra and liked it a lot but ended up trading it to my wife so I could get my Crunch back. Locking pliers are just way too useful to be without.
The 100mm knifpex does look pretty cool though and I will probably end up getting one
