Review competition
on: July 06, 2013, 04:39:09 PM
OK folks up for grabs is another Leatherman OHT!!  Again huge kudos to the great people at Leatherman for the support. :tu:

What we are looking for is for you good folks to do a review of one of your own MT.

1. The style to be in line with the main site review format

2. the closing date will be the 20th of July, any entries after that won't count.

3. we will need a minimum of 5 reviews to judge, any less than that and we will have to think of another way to pass along this fine MT.

Over 18's only please.

This isn't going to be a random pick for a winner, this will be a judged competition with the site admin staff and moderators picking a winner, so make your review as good as you can. ;)  There is also the chance that any really good reviews might end up on the Main Site.  Best of luck folks and lets get typing. :tu:

Any questions, just ask.

Is there some kind of geographical restriction to apply?

...and I assume reviews done previously are not eligible...   :D

I will see if I have the time to write something during the next few weeks, hopefully on something not too common  :poh: (I hope we do not get 50 reviews of the LM Micra or Wave)
Good idea

You assume correctly. :D. New reviews only please, though don't be put off if you don't have anything unusual to review, we'll read ten reviews of the Micra if that is what is submitted. :tu:

Those are both good starts gents, but they also both need fleshing out a bit.  Break the reviews into three distinct parts: intro (what is it you are reviewing), testing ( how well do the individual tools work and in what circumstances), conclusion (would you recommended it, what are it's strengths and weaknesses etc), and finally your three pro's and con's.  Do all that and, trust me, you'll struggle to keep it under 800 words. :tu:

Cool idea for a giveaway  :D

I have a couple of items that need reviewing, so hopefully I'll be able to get something done by the 20th  :tu:

In the main site I only see Multitool reviews. Is it OK to review a SAK or accessory? A SAK is a multitool of course, so I don't know why reviews of SAKs wasn't included.

I think a SAK review would be OK, though we will limit this comp to SAKs and MTs only, not flashlights or other gear. :)

Thank you. I wondered what tool to review, and was shocked when I went looking to see if I'd ever bothered reviewing this one, considering my long history with the tool.

The format is based around these guidelines; http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,24001.0.html

Hopefully that helps, but if not please feel free to ask for any further clarification. :)

What the smurf.
Once I removed all the modified and discontinued tools I was left with an old friend.
The great Leatherman Micra.

Great review on the rebar jzmtl,I have about every LM made, but the rebar is my edc now,and if you open the blade on the inch side it will be the plain edge, and the mm side is the serrated one,and the only scissors I use is on my wenger  escort.

Sorry Lynn, I forgot to address this. :-[  If you good folks can be bothered to put in the time and effort to write more than one good review I think it would be churlish of us not to consider them all. :hatsoff:

does that include OPMTs?  I recently purchased a TT Chopper and was thinking of reviewing it... I'd need to take some pics, but I'm pretty sure I could get it written up before Saturday.  :)

Consider we have a section of forum for them, I'd imagine it does qualify.

I'd certainly say that a one piece tool qualifies.
