I usually pair the M4 and my Utili-key very handy combo :cheers: :D

I've a utilikey and a solstice right now, and was considering something pliers-based. The locking tools on this one really do it for me. :cheers:

I picked up a M4 about 6 years ago, give or take, when Walmart was carrying them. Very good little tool. I haven't carried mine for a couple years, but this thread has inspired me to dig mine out and put it on my key ring. Thanks.

The IDL T10 I received seems slightly different fromthe Sebertech in this review.  The knife on my tool had the chisel and not V grind.  My tool also had a darker grey color and the fit and finish seemed a little lacking.  It wasn't horrible, but it didn't look as nice as the ones in the photos of this review.

The locks were also very difficult to release.  I'm overall pleased with the tool, but be forewarned, the quality may have declined with the IDL version.

As long as it's a quality tool I will give it a look. I might look for a used American made model though.

Those "not so good" points, except the possible rust, are actually positives IMO. I gotta find one of these. Definitely a cool little backup.. last-ditch tool for us tech guys.  :multi:

I just bought the IDL version tonight at Ace Hardware. What a piece of junk!  I'm not going to candy coat it, it's junk. That's what happens when you take a great design and have it made in China!  ::)

So true.... I had high hopes for this one but it failed in every way possible. Fit and finish is poor, the steel is flimsy, and the tools are very hard to open. The only bright spot is the blade which is very sharp. Overall, save your $$$ for a used American made version. I went to Sears and they don't make them anymore.  :(

It was USA M4 repacked in the IDL T10 package  :ahhh :D

Sorry to hear that the newer ones aren't as good of quality :(

i just recived the one that amazon sell and well....it makes a nice keychain....pretty most just that, its kinda sad cuz i was hopping that at least the knife will be sharp but they didnt even get that little detail right

Hey Bob I think that this review should go with the M3 review over on the main page ;) It is a great tool (at least the M4 model and needs some recognition) sorry to here the newer version is less quality though (perhaps that might need to be added in the final review so not to fool the masses into getting a less quality tool like poor Gadget Guy :(

I know that's a bit different but i like to see a versus between the M4 and the micro fishing tool of coast knives:

I'll try to put something together Alundra :salute: (I can tell you right off though that of the two the M4 is built a lot better) :)

I just got one of these to play around with.

I'm VERY impressed with the pliers. They seem disproportionately stout compared to the handle length. There is absolutely no play in the joint of mine. The wire cutter will cut 12-gauge solid copper wire, although not as easily as a Squirt PS4 will.

The build quality is on par with the Leatherman Micra.

I mostly got this tool to check out the locking mechanism. It's very hard to operate, and i found that opening another tool to release a locked one worked better for me. I also don't see all that much need for locking tools on an MT this size. And lockup wasn't all that solid on most of the tools. Also, strangely, when closed, the tools are loose enough on one side to allow the blade tip to clear the handle, so if you shoved your hand down into a pocket to retrieve this or your keys, it could cut you. Bad. Very bad.

Still, it's an interesting design, and a good keychain MT, if you don't need scissors.
