How to loosen a scissor pivot
on:
July 30, 2013, 09:54:51 PM
I tried to cut a knot out of my dog's hair with the scissors on my wave and they got stuck. I then noticed that they had developed some play in them. No problem I thought. I'll just tighten the pivot. One hammer and punch later... I pretty much have fixed blade scissors.
So I'm now trying to wiggle the pivot looser with my hands. Does anybody have any advice to help loosen this pivot?
(I was such an idiot!)

At best it'll loosen up as you play with it. At worst you'll have to drill the rivet out and re-rivet.

Do the same thing that got them loose the first time, wiggle the two parts apart carefully.

You can also use liquid dish soap, do not use powder soap.
Dry it well, and after that just spray a bit of WD40.
