That's Sparky's job .... light a fire big enough to create an artificial high atmospheric pressure :tu:

Food parcel just landed ... :nanadance:

.... and it's wrong

Just nipped home to get it all transferred to the freezer and discovered some errors. 4 pheasant breasts, 48 frogs legs, and 12 sausages each of llama, reindeer and zebra .... all good so far  :tu:

Ordered the 1kg option in each of diced kangaroo steak, and diced camel steak ... received 350g each  >:( >:(
Ordered the python fillet which was listed as 1kg but only received 250g

One phone call later ... The kangaroo and camel were packing errors, and they will be sending me out the right packs ... and it sounds like they'll be sending 1kg of each ON TOP of the 350g I already received  :D

The Python is apparantly a web site error, and it shouldn't have said 1kg .... it should actually say £24 for 250g :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh They have however accepted the error and are going to send out more python fillet too, and if they do actually send another three 250g packs I've effectively paid £100 for 1kg of python fillet and received the pheasant, frogs legs, kangaroo, camel, llama, reindeer and zebra for free

We are cutting it fine time wise though, as the parcel won't be with me till next Thursday  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Really cant wait for this now  :ahhh Seeing old friends, meeting new friends, first camping trip in way too long, beer, exotic foods, wine, fire, sharp things, shiny things, air rifles ....

C'mon calendar - pull yer bloody finger out ...  :pok:

Are there recommendations from the seller on how to prepare the meats...marinades for grilling perhaps?
What would you use for Python...teriyaki?

I've done some research at home, Spork  :tu: I looked at a few different recipes and kind of drew up my own based on the themes I found. Can't fully remember the ingredients for all the meats, but here's what I can remember from the recipes I drew up ...

Python: basically, cook like squid including scoring and cutting into strips prior to marinade. Salt, pepper, crushed chillis (or a dash of tabasco) and lime juice. Marinade for 1-2 minutes max and fry hot and quick

Roo: Red wine, olive oil, garlic and .... something else  Marinade 3-4 hours - BBQ hot and quick

Frogs Legs: garlic, Newcastle Brown Ale, honey ..... and other stuff  Marinade 3-4 hours - BBQ hot and quick

Camel: I'm sure wine was on the list again - Shiraz IIRC, and I KNOW allspice was on there  :tu: Marinate 3-4 hours, BBQ off the heat slowly

Pheasant: As yet undecided - still deciding how to do this as I'm still deciding what to pair it with. I reckon there's enough here for a couple of BBQs, maybe python and frogs legs for lunch with salad and cous cous and the richer meats in the evening .... but I need to get input from the guys first  ;) I was gonna send them a list via PM so they could flag up any problem ingredients before I buy them, but I might as well stick the full recipes up here now you've asked  :D

Sausages will just be cooked on the BBQ grill as per standard  :)

Here we go, got my idiot sheet now ...

Python: basically, cook like squid including scoring and cutting into strips prior to marinade. Salt, pepper, crushed chillis (or a dash of tabasco) and lime juice. Marinade for 1-2 minutes max and fry hot and quick

^^that one is correct ...

Frogs Legs: Marinade in beer (Newkie Brown), garlic, honey, Hendersons Relish, and Tabaso

Thinking of serving these two (Python and frog) together with a mixed dressed salad, cous cous and lemon slices

Kangaroo: Red Wine, oil, rosemary and thyme
Sausages: Plain
Camel: Oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and allspice
Pheasant: I did have it pencilled in as being red wine, garlic and lemon juice ... but I'm now thinking of just giving it a little squirt of lemon juice, slicing open and filling with green pesto and wrapping in bacon  ;)

Side dishes maybe lentil dhal (will work really well with the camel) and/or savoury rice (just packet jobbies for ease of cooking) ... maybe some veggie kebabs too (pepper, red onion, tomato etc)

 :D :D :D

Should be just enough to feed 8 people twice there I reckon. I'll let someone else take care of bread, tea, coffee, milk, and Friday's food .... and the breakfasts  :pok: fight amongst yourselves  :pok: :D :D

I reckon we all just ought to take our own drinks (other than tea/coffee)  ;)

Does everyone like cheese?

I've got plenty of our blue and I'll see if I can get a bit more of one of our others.

I'm sure the red lentil dhal will fill that role quite nicely  ;)
