:D yes sir David, when potted meat, Vienna sausages, and canned sardines actually taste good, you know something is going on....

It's the surroundings, being alone or sharing some quality time with your family or few good mates and being one with the nature.

Anything tastes and feels better in the great outdoors.  :)
:twak: Thanks for reviving the escapist wildfire in me with that post. (Need to get away from it all for a while  :ahhh)

You should! And your right, everything tastes better out in the woods and cooked with fire.

(Apart from other difficulties I encounter) if all goes well with our son's birth there won't be anymore great outdoors for me for a coupla years. I'll make up for that later though :D

Well you know, one of the things that helped our new born sleep was riding in the car. It took some more planning, but a car ride into the woods, as long as it wasn't tooooooo far was nice. My son is 2 and we still haven't actually stayed out since my daughter was 1.... she is now six, we just spend the day.

We took both our kids camping when they were under 1.  Some of it was in a tent, but for most, we had our camper.

It's actually good or it's just me used to it - it makes it somehow softer than sugar. Years ago I used to try to eliminate all kinds of processed sugar from my diet, so I even drank my coffee without any sugar or sweet stuff. But then I had some tiny problem and my doc told me I should add sth sweet to my coffee... so I was still into the healthy lifestyle idea and opted for honey  :tu:  I don't like eating honey ... alone, though :D

Thanks for letting me know. I'm sure we can take really young ones in the woods with careful planning (no way I'm getting a camper though, other than a Vic one.) After all, it's been done since forever and our species survived. Not sure what the doctors might say about that

I don't use sweetener in my coffee, but I think I'll try this tonight to see how it is.

Yeah, just make sure you pack everything that you need, then go back and pack some more! :D  It's not easy getting everything together to take really young ones out on a camping trip, but in the end, I think it's worth it.

Both our kids love camping (even though we just sold our camper  ), and they both love being outdoors.

N_N_R, doesn't boiling all this water kind of ruin the froth? Love the froth. I make it a double small cup usually or slightly more and then slowly sip for hours.

@Derekmac: Man, you should try adding a pinch of oregano in your tea with honey :tu:

I've seen that! There goes my minimalism -what's minimalism?

It's kind of sad, I see kids growing up in this concrete bro#^`~.. we call Athens that couldn't care less about being outdoors. Hopefully ours won't be like that.  :salute:

Honey in coffee?! Not to sure about that one. The only thing I add to my coffee is more coffee when my cup is getting low.

It's a matter of taste mainly (de gustibus et coloribus etc etc  :) ). If you boil it too much, the blend loses some flavour I think and the coffee feel less dense. It's why I stopped making it like you do. Just sayin'.

Brings back childhood memories...first thing out of bed in the morning waiting for you nice and warm on the kitchen table, an enamel cup filled with milk diluted with few drops of stove pot coffee filled with pieces of 'dvopek' (Croatian for dried toast bread) for breakfast before school...I really miss my grandma.  :(

Somehow, I think the coffee qualifies for the "Gadget Freak and EDC Forum" :D

Today it's Cafe Bustelo.  It's pretty good from a drip coffee maker with paper filter.

New favorite coffee while being on vacation, espresso correto a la mastic. I make it easily, with Tassimo Espresso Ristretto and original Chios Island Mastic Liquor.
