Very interesting for anyone who has not seen this before.  :salute:
Is it true that only a few of these machines are outside Switzerland?

Most Victorinox Shops have one, as you can build your own Spartan there.

I think I saw the same machine at the London store as well.
Can you imagine what would happen if one of these made it into private hands.

Not much. The operation is no secret. Without the items you can not do much with it.
The machine is more efficient than working by hand but for customs not need them realy. And for the industie it is not efficient enough again.

Anyway, thank you for this interesting video  :salute:

Interesting. Looks pretty simple when you see it done.

I'm curious how long they've used some of their machinery.

When your go on the Hornady Ammo plant, they're using many machines that are from WWII yet and still going strong with only minor repairs. Many they purchased years back from other now defunct companies. If you're ever crossing Nebraska and have time, it's an interesting tour.

Should see the lead pots. Wow.

My apologies for getting off topic. Thank you for the video. Neat stuff.

That's no fun.

I like to wrestle with my back tools and have them popping out every time I place a liner on.

It can be done by hand but making thousands of knives without this machine would just be slave labor.

Nice video and thanks for sharing.

I find the spring loaded rivet punch thing to be a lot more interesting than that stupid machine. :P

Yeah, the hammer-driven peening tool.  Nice snips.  And the guy is wearing the right watch.

There are a video or two of that very machine in action on Youtube.  Plus I hear the workers rotate jobs at Vic to keep things fresh (I could be imagining that though).

Cheers

Ya those machines are nothing special.  Really just an aid to compress the springs to assemble, nothing my fingers cant do.  I can probably do it faster than he does in the video since I dont have to fiddle with all the bits and get them in the machine first.

The real peening machine is only in the factory and can be seen in a couple of the online videos. Its impressive, and Id love to have something like that for alox building for a rivet option.  It rotates and hits at the same time.

See this video at about 3:14

I'd be happy with those special peening punches and striking block for sure, my current method is sketchy at best, lol...
