I am just getting into swiss army knives.  personally I prefer Victorinox to Wenger, but that is just my preference.

so I bought this book
http://www.ebay.com/itm/140983609076

and while I am waiting on it to arrive, I thought I would see what peoples opinions of this book are?

I tried to go to large book stores and look at it in person, but none of them carried it

I tried looking on Amazon, but it cost WAY too much.

thanks to anyone who has any info on this book.
If I can help, let me know

The book 'A Collector's Companion' is an overview of Victorinox history. It's a worthwhile book, but doesn't have much on identification or dating of models.

You should probably pair it with 'The Swiss Army Knife Owner's Manual' by Michael Young. Lots of good info you won't find anywhere else.

Think Felinevet normally carries it.

thanks everyone!

I will be buying this soon,  and if the author decides to identify himself, that would be cool, if not, I understand.
If I can help, let me know

Another good book I can recommend is:

THE KNIFE AND ITS HISTORY
Written on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of VICTORINOX.
Publisher: Victorinox.

Part 1: Cutlery from the beginning up to 1900.
Part 2: A century of Victorinox history.
Part 3: Victorinox today (1984)

This one deals more with the history of Victorinox...an excellent if hard to find book. Published in 1984.
A little Leatherman information.

Chako,

I found that book on abebooks.com  for like $18  (some were much much higher)

I will start with "The Swiss Army Knife Owner's Manual: History, Models, Makers, Uses (1st Edition)"  and go from there.  to me being able to date a knife is the most important thing,  I like to think what was going on in the world when a particular knife was made.

I am the same way with coins, books, and just about anything else.

If I can help, let me know
