They are late. Thanksgiving was last weekend.  :D

Glad to hear he's doing well.

Last update for this thread, I'm afraid.  :-\

We had to put Stuart to sleep yesterday.  Over the last 4 days, his hind legs got progressively weaker until he could move them at all (and seemed like he couldn't sense them either).  The vet said there was nothing good or treatable that would explain it and it was time.

We're sad, but really at peace that his last 6 months have been good, comfortable months for him.  As a bonus, he made it through the horrible winter, hanging out mostly in the heated tackroom and died on a warm spring day.

So long, Stuart!  :salute:

Sorry to hear that Nate.  I greatly appreciate you sharing Stuart's sorry with us and I'm glad to hear that when his time came it was on his own terms.

Yeah, Thanks guys.

No tears here.

Stuart was a cat who lived life to the fullest.  When he was young and strong, he hunted and prowled the farm as he saw fit.  We'd see him now and again in the summer, down at the stream, hunting and probably fishing or out in the brush, stalking some poor little critter. Often, we'd not see him at all for months at a time. When he got older, he sought the comfort of the barn and tackroom when the weather was foul.  In his last months, he lived the king's life, eating canned catfood and having people groom him and fawn over him.

In the end, he died with his people around him, on a warm sunny day.  It doesn't get more charmed for a cat than that!
