SAK mod advice
on: September 05, 2013, 08:32:48 PM
I've been playing around with my Explorer since seeing a great mod (which I can't find now) and I'm seeking some advice;

I've added a bit adapter to the in-line Phillips and while it fits quite well, there is movement so I want to stabilise it as much as I can.

Any tips?

Here is a pic;

If I can get this to work I won't need a CT41 anymore!

Cheers

Took a quarter inch socket,epoxy putty,and a liberal amount of Vaseline...oh no,here we go again :facepalm:

Pretty well...might be worth asking 50ft-trad too,he has the first one I done :D

The key is to use something like Prattleys,which is pretty much bullet proof

Cheers Kirk - I remember your mod and liked it very much. Do you have the link for it please?

 I don't have the tools to modify the bottle opener at the moment, and I guess the problem with using the phillips is that the head is wider than the neck so unless I fit a padded collar into the adapter there will always be a certain amount of movement. I'm not concerned with a perfect fit, just to improve on the current situation.

What is Prattleys?

I think they're referring to chemical metal/metal epoxy, like J B Weld and others.

There's the link

Prattleys is a super strong 2 part epoxy...might be having brain slip and went for the South African brand name :oops:
