Not seen this before its an old pruning knife it may be all pruning knives have this stamp but I have not seen it before.

The knife is pretty worn but still lots of life in it :)

It must be prior to the 40s. I can't put my hands on my copy of the Victorinox The Knife book right now, but I presume if it was in there more people would recognize it.  I found at least one place I saw it before; on one of my knives.  I also remember reading something about it though some where.

Oh I just found it... I should have waited for you, I was reading lots of old stuff...  and I did finally get the idea that it might have been on this knife.

Still I also remember finding a reference to it somewhere but I can't find that.  Maybe you could help.  :D

The first Elsener cutlery was in an old mill on a canal running thru Ibach.
But the tang stamp looks a lot like the barn a couple blocks from the present factory where Victorinox stores planks of wood for the handles of specialty and culinary knives.
Very cool mark !

The building doesn't show up on the blades of any of my work knives. Nice find. :tu:

I remembered it cause it was an old pruner. The first Vic knife I ever saw wasn't a SAK but an old Victoria pruner similar to this one that my grandfather had for ages. Regretfully he lost it a few years before he passed away. I have a soft spot for these kind of blades.

No other threads come to mind, but if I do remember, I'll update here. :D

P.S. Did you have time to check the PM with the missing pics list. No hurry, I'm swamped at the moment too, just checking if you got it. ;)

It Does :)

not lockable but when closed the blade slides right out ... I would never have spotted that :)

It must be designed for real hard work where the blade takes a lot of hammer .... or maybe you would carry a few spare sharp blades and so you could keep on working without worrying about sharpening.

glad I picked it up now :)

I was thinking of the logo as a covered bridge  or saw mill

Thread necro.

The tang stamp pictures Ulli posted in the thread below would make that one made between 1943 and 1951.
