Women Thread...

Google has informed us that we could potentially lose our adsense income due to some "mature" image threads, so we've temporarily removed the thread for full revision.

Obviously many do not violate but there are a few that are possibly questionable with these standards:

This includes, but is not limited to, pages with images or videos containing:

Strategically covered nudity
Sheer or see-through clothing
Lewd or provocative poses
Close-ups of breasts, buttocks, or crotches

If/when the thread returns, please be more careful with your posts.

Yes, we did. And it was one of the top 10 threads by views so I'm sure a lot of people would be sorry to see it go. Good to know that we have your blessing as the OP of it though. It's still there for now, just not visible. We'll try to see how much is salvageable. It's not the only thread affected, there have been at least two more.

I think the post count of some has been affected too. Mine dropped by cca 50 but some may be down a few hundred.

Well whatever has to be done, has to be done. Simple as that.  Honestly if the thread comes back it's only a matter of time until someone post something prohibited. The only way to guarantee that does not happen is to remove threads like that permanently. Just my opinion though. I'm sure the Mods and Admin will handle it appropriately. 

I didn't even notice the post count going down, but that doesn't really matter. If you don't mind me asking what other threads have been effected?

Would restricting the thread to members over 18 only, with the need to have it activated specially, somehow, satisfy those who wish to impose their moral code on others? Just a thought.

If it returns then the google requirements should be made into a sticky, though they are pretty open to interpretation.

It will be hard not to break any of the rules, with pictures of sexy women. Especialy the provocative poses rule.. Grants shower picture breaks at least that one.

Honestly I think it's "apples to oranges" so to speak when referring to my avatar. Sure shes a porn star and actually naked in the picture (which you can't see), but its my avatar and not a open thread where anyone can post anything and "accidentally" break the rules.

I'f there was even an issue with it I am more than happy to change it back to the bloody, nasty old man clown avatar.

Sometimes Google plays fast and loose with the rules too, so posting their requirements may not help much.

I thought the mods were doing a good job of keeping this family friendly. There were a few racy photos, but I always stuck to the mentality that it's no worse than what you see in ads in magazines, on buses or billboards or on TV before 8pm.  Apparently Google is more puritanical than we thought, which seems odd for a laid back California based internet company.

Anyways, with 1800+ posts I really don't want to get rid of it, at least not without a fight.

Well, personally I'm kinda double surprised here. When I first saw it I was initially surprised at the Women thread's existence at all in today's overly politically correct world and now I'm surprised at the reason for its demise.

Actually, I have a real issue with letting it go.  I am really tempted to tell Google to go stick it where the sun doesn't shine as I think we have done a great job of keeping it tasteful.  It bothers me greatly that our content is going to be controlled by an outside source like this.

Unfortunately the option is that the site loses out on a significant amount of money each month and I don't feel like increasing the donation goal to make up for it, since it would be a significant increase.

in terms of the financial revenue generated I am in complete support of letting the thread go. we all are on the interwebs and if we want to see beautiful women its really not that hard to do.  I find it odd however that many of the pictures posted seem to have been borrowed from the source of this censure itself  .  maybe I see it different but google is being quite the hypocrite especially when the MODS have done an excellent job in allowing or not allowing some of googles own easily obtained content!!!  heck what do I know anyways.  let it go and take the money so the financial burden is less plus we still have our MULT/SAK porn anyway which is why we all came in the 1st place.  off to look at chakos bookmarked picture threads, oh and the mod thread, and the PST Chronology, and the gerber MT identification thread, and the............

Still, I don't like bomb a one trick pony, nor do I like being told what to do.  There may yet be a way to work something out.  Watch out for crafty Canadians....
