Questions About Something I Saw on the Auction Website
on: September 23, 2013, 07:35:01 PM
I saw a Coleman Pro Lock on fleabay.  It was unusual.  It had the following description:

This auction is for a vintage pair of high end Coleman utility pliers in its leather case. These pliers have the screwdrivers, knife, saw, and file built into the handle. The neat thing about this pair of pliers is that they are brass handled. I don't see very many of these for sale at all anywhere. They area brand new never used stock and came out of a coleman employee estate. He was an engineer for them so have a few items that are not available to the general public. These may have been to cost prohibative to offer in the open market so only the stainless steel ones were offered. Please take a minute to look at the photos provided for your consideration and bid accordingly.

Obviously, anything is possible.

My questions:

Has anyone seen this before?
Is this legit or a custom job someone is trying to fob on the public?
I've never seen a leather pouch with this tool either?

Additional question.  Since this tool is no longer in production, if this is legit then it is even rarer because it was a limited edition employees only run so....

What is it's estimated value?

The stampings on the handle and the rivets make it look legit to me.

The regular Coleman Pro Lock tools aren't that common, so a special like this must be pretty rare.

As far as value, I have no idea. Coleman has degraded its name somewhat with the current lot of cheapo tools, but if some enthusiastic collectors started to bid against each other that can push the price up.

Edit: I see that  "y***r" bought it - is that you ?  If it was, nice pick-up and $35.00 is an excellent price :tu:

No, unfortunately I was not the winner. I was a little leary of this item so once it got past my ceiling, I let it go.<sigh>
