Lionsteel Barlow Slim overview

Lionsteel Barlow Slim overview.
The Barlow line was a Collectorknives branded range, that are also available in other shops.
The slim here is the titanium, blue, model that has a titanium body and no internal frame or scales.
Size-wise and construction-wise it is comparable to a 91mm Alox, having no extra internal frame.

I have included some comparison photographs with similar size/style knives.
Regarding price it is the most expensive, despite being Machine made, as it has fancier materials and reasonable brand cache.
A single blade Victorinox Pioneer Range Alox is around 20 Euro (the one shown with two blades starts at around 30), the GEC, based on the last similar model produced by GEC without the TC Waynorth markup (or crazy prices…) should be around 60 Euro and the Lionsteel around 130 euro, significantly more expensive than the rest. I have no real indication on the current cost of the Wenger, but when I bought it it was cheap.

The specifications from the website are:
Blade length: 75 mm. - 2.95 in.
Closed length: 95 mm. - 3.74 in.
Blade thickness: 2 mm. - 0.08 in.
Total weight: 88 gr. - 3.10 oz.
Blade finish: Satin finished
Locking system: Slipjoint
Packaging: Cardboard box
Model: Barlow Slim
Blade style: Dom
Blade steel: M390 sintered steel
Handle: Blue Titanium - Oblique Milling
Wharncliffe blade length: 67 mm - 2.64 in.

It has a half-stop, pull is a bit stronger than the Victorinox but the action is smoother.
Note that the action on the Lionsteel Bestman is even smoother.
The blade is what it is, and you may like it or dislike it. Cuts well and there are other styles available.
The body is grippy as there seem to be some fine texture (think of really fine sandpaper) between the crests of the milled handle area.
I think the blue colour is a coating, so scratching may occur.
Disappears in the pocket.
No lanyard hole.
Easy to pinch the blade open and it has long pulls on both sides.

Is it worth it? Depends on what you want. As pointed out earlier you can buy 6 Victorinox knives (which are not the cheapest knives remember) for the price of the Lionsteel and they will do the same thing. You will hardly notice any difference and you may get more “brand recognition/respect” in most cases from the Victorinox, especially in fancy colours.
The materials are fancier, the look is interesting, and the (old) Lionsteel brand is currently fashionable.
I like it.

That looks really nice. I like the lines and curves. And the color too. I like these modern traditionals companies are releasing. It's lighter than I expected.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
It looks really familiar though.

They also have models with other covers, like wood, that look more "normal"
