I bought the set of 2 for $15 or $20 the first time I saw it at Home Depot.  I've never owned a Leatherman, and only 1 Gerber (a cheap one) so I don't have much high-end comparison, but compared to the Sheffields and Stanleys I was accustomed to using, the DeWalt MT16 is pretty nice.  Definitely heavy to carry in your pocket, but sturdy and useful.

The MT8, on the other hand, I'd just as soon hang on a peg and use as a bottle opener.
